Chairlift Eavesdropping

I saw an idiot on the chairlift with me and a buddy at Blue Mountain PA who had 6 bottles of beer in his jacket 2nd lift ride of the day and already consumed a couple bottles before getting on the lift according to what he told us. :-o Took 1 out and was drinking it on the lift. Finished it and put it back empty in his jacket. Can't imagine falling with all those bottles in his jacket. Amazing how much some people absolutely need to be drunk to enjoy their ski day!? :-?

Hey at least he held on to his empties. On Sunday at Wildcat saw three assholes a few chairs ahead of me on the Tomcat drinking (cans) and throwing their empties off the chairlift. Unfortunately they were long gone by the time I was off the chair.

I think he held onto it just because we were on the lift! Probably tossed it into the woods on his way down...

Drunk not so much, maybe a safety meeting and one drink , but that is all the drink I need at the hill.

I smart about what I do. Usually I don't have a drink, and if I do were talking like 1 beer. And I am sober for any driving. I am bad enough driver sober as it is.

I was on the tram at Cannon last Sunday and this guy taps me on the shoulder, and starts telling me about how this other guy on the tram farted directly on his son (who was standing right next to him), and then about all the other recent times someone has broken wind on his son. We all had a good laugh. Except for the flatulator, I'm sure. I'm not sure I could have made it through the winter without the amazing interactions I've had on the tram.

Last weekend, my wife and I rode the chair with a girl and a guy from the singles line. They were both on tele skis and started chatting. By the top of the lift, they had exchanged first names and agreed to go on a run. It was rather cute.

Not a chairlift conversation: but I overheard the guy in front of me on the flight home for Utah complaining how it really pisses him off that all the skiers carry their boots onto the plane. I didn't say anything, but I was less than gentle with the tray table ...

As with most things moderation is key. I'll have a beer at lunch or if a buddy offers one on the lift. Pounding beers all day is another thing ... and I don't want anyone that impaired on the slopes with me.

Riding up the Skyeship last week the people who got on the gondola with me didn't know which lift they were on, where they were parked, or where the rest of the people they were skiing with were, and couldn't reach anyone on their phones. I showed them where we were on their trail map, but they were still lost. They seemed totally sober too.

Yep. Taking a shot of hard liquor during a lunch break is actually how I got rid of that edge when I was learning. For most people, learning isn't as much the technical aspect, it's nerve, and for me, just a pinch of alcohol took that nerve off.
