That said, better forecasters do appear bullish for us this winter too

The problem is, Bastardi frequently weighs into political matters. And most of his opinions relate to the "side" that is not the side that owns the barrels of ink, thus he gets attacked a lot. In other words, regardless of whether he's right or wrong, much of the attacks he suffers are politically inspired in nature and not relating to science or meteorology. I do agree with you that he promotes himself a bit much, but some might just call that business.
