Very cool photos indeed. While some are of Stowe, those are from all over the country and a couple abroad. Aside from Nor-ams, it seems that there were a lot more non-World Cup events in the east a couple decades ago and now we get FIS and the occassional National Champs at Sugarloaf, but not much else.

What was the last actual WC held in New England? I'm guessing it was a woman's SL/GS weekend at Waterville. Anyone else know? :fangun:

Whether I was just bored or curious, I found that WV was in fact that last resort in the eastern US to host a World Cup. The men's and women's finals for stthe lalom and GS were held there in 1991 and the final race for each was a parallel slalom. I didn't even know it was an event in the World Cup and interestingly, the only place that hosted (a few times) was WV.

Add the arguable fact that hotdogging had its' birthplace at WV and it's amazing how much history the place has.

The only other eastern US resorts to host World Cup events were:
Cannon in 1967
Sugarloaf in 1971
Stratton in 1978
Lake Placid in 1979 (Obviously the Olympics in 80)
WV many years...
