Wishing a speeeeedeeeeee recovery. You've got the advantage of youth on your side, that will help tremendously with the healing. The hard part for some people is re-building their confidence.

Thanks everyone! Based on what the doc said (he had to "clean up" the backside of her knee cap) this may have been an old injury. Well, not the tear, but her knee may have been injured awhile back. Who knows, she may back and better than ever when the snow flies.

about 25 years ago I banged up the inside of my kneecap because I thought it was fun to run down the mountains, bouncing off the rocks. It chipped up the whole inner side. However, P/T was able to re-smooth the surface and resolve the pain.

Keep her on the motion machine as much as possible until you have to give it back. Range of motion is the key. I also had the surgery in June of 2007 and was sking November of that season (torn ACL, strained MCL, miniscus trim). I do where a custom brace and would say you are crazy not to... no matter what a Dr. says. I put my brace on and forget it is there once my bibs are on. I did the alograft as well and my recovery went well - I was committed to PT. After PT, make the stationary bike and stairmaster her best friends. Good luck

It great to hear some positive results from everyone!

She's got the "robo brace" already. She was fitted for that a few weeks ago and it came in about two weeks prior to surgery. That will be an essential part of her ski gear now. She wore it around for quit a bit before the surgery.
