I've chased people down and reported them to ski patrol before..
Once a killington the patroller said he couldn't do anything... I told I'd take care of it and he went after the guy... :) (I'd never pull a Spanky from KZone move..)

I'm lucky to be friend with tons of patrollers at Hunter..

so in effect, you ARE enforcement.

I hereby knight you as "THE ENFORCER"

how many people have been hit and the person who hits you.....blames you!

skiing at nashoba and was heading towards the chair at the end of a run and BLAM! my face is doing a close up taste test of the snow. As I start to realize what happened the guy starts yelling at me - you turned in front of me - it's your fault. His buddy comes over and starts supporting him. I'm still stunned and I'm trying to figure out why the eyes in the back of my head didn't see this guy coming.....when the lift attendent walks over and picks up the guys skis (a la warren miller - want your skis, go get 'em) and tosses the guys skis as far as he can. He says to the guy, "the guy you just hit is just starting to figure out what happened and once he does I think he's going to hit you so if I were you I'd get out of here now. fast." he left but was still trying to blame me. week later went to the emergency room to get my thumb/wrist casted - my souvenir from Joey.

had another experience skiing on one ski (other foot was in removable cast from soccer injury). skiing the green trails which were almost empty. stopped to rest along the side of the trail and next thing i know a boarder is coming from the underside of the trail (looped off the trail and comes back up the side so he can jump into the trail) and has missle lock on me. clips me and the cast (saved me from getting a big slice in my calf) and then claims i shouldn't have been standing there. damn, once again my fault for standing on the side of the trail and not using the eyes in the back of my head - gotta get those checked. there was a mom and little grom a little ways down the trail - unfortunately the little grom heard some colorful words that day. eventually i skied down and apologized to the mom for that. boarder was wise to stay far enough away from me while I cooled down - eventually apologized but it took a while.

I learned a looooong time ago that Nashoba is not where to go when you want to free ski. I remember on leaving I so TO'd about so may things. Nashoba is one giant lessons factory. It is NOT for skiing.

I've only really hit one person.. And it WAS his fault.. And i know that people are going to come after me again on this...

But i was minding my own business - riding the trail edge.. Facing into the trail but looking down the falline.. Being hesitant because the chair was coming up... Noticing a skier that looked like he was making his turns way too big turns coming down the trail(I can look back up the trail on a snowboard)...

And suddenly BAM!!!! i hit this guy... So hard we both bought the farm...
He came in from uphill and on an angle skiing faster then me and skied right in front of me..

I immediately ask him if he's OK...
They guy looks at me and says i should watch out for the downhill skier... But he wasn't the downhill skier until he cut me off.. It was all i could do to not lay into him but by then ski patrol saw it and were there.. They also aggreed it was his fault... Nobody got hurt..

Totally his fault...

Nope, I agree. You were the downhill slider until he could get safely past. Uphill/downhill doesn't automatically change like a switch just because he's going faster. IMHO

Actually, it is....

Never hit anyone, but came close on Gate last week

jamming down the "zipper" of the bumps, when a guy, smoking a cigarette comes in from the side of the train and falls right in front of me

Hit the breaks hard and turned him into a snow man...man did he get buried..and I said I was sorry

I should have yelled duck, hit a bumped and soared over him

Once had a boarder lean back into a turn and knock my novice beginner son over

I checked and he looked ok and I tucked to catch him....he started coming up on my wife and youngest daughter...he started to lean back into a turn, I put myself between my daughter and the boarder, so that he leaned into me

BIG mistake, I just shoved him in his back..he didn't go down, but was stunned...as well as stoned

This past mid-late dec, Wa had natural bumps on upper SW and the jr race training on lower SW, open for racers only. Between upper and lower SW, there's a crossover to upper/lower 10th, this crossover is usually marked with a big orange sign saying slow.

So I was doing laps all day on upper sw and then crossover to lower 10th. The racers would go down on upper 10th then cross over to lower sw. Basically, this crossover had traffic all day. Some of those kids were bombing down all the way even on the crossover. One time I almost collided with someone, I was the downhill skier crossing over, corner of my eye I catch the uphill skier heading into my path at full speed and I made a hockey stop in time and the kid whizzed by. During the whole time, a ranger sees this and yells to me, always look uphill when crossing. IMO, he should have told the racer to pay attention to the warning sign and slow down, or go to the coach and tell his kids to slow down at the crossover.

AZ should have a Collision Forum

I just searched AZ forums for "collision" and got 40 threads.

This looks like a good site:

http://www.skisafety.com

see
http://www.skisafety.com/collisioncases.php
snip--->>>
In collision cases, the parties involved must exchange identification information. This office receives numerous calls each year from skiers who were injured by another's reckless skiing and that injured skier is unable to identify or name the reckless skier involved. Colorado law, and ski safety acts in most other states, require individuals involved in skier/skier collisions to stop at the scene, render aid and to give their name, local address, permanent address and identification.

also see
2006 Survey of Ski Law in the United States
First release of overview prepared for 4th annual Recreation & Adventure Program Law & Liability, Denver, Colorado, April 3 - 4, 2006

snip--->>>

The question of what duty of care skiers owe to one another remains in dispute. Many states now include risk of skier/skier collision and, specifically, risk of another skier failing to ski within their ability, within a statutory list of potential inherent dangers. Within the context of litigation between skiers, those courts considering it have agreed that this does not include a skier-employee of the operator negligently colliding with a skier guest. While a few states, such as Alaska, have statutes that expressly provide for recovery in true skier/skier cases, those that have failed to directly address the issue have varying court records. Some courts have rejected altogether applicability of what they view as an immunity act for the sole benefit of ski area operators to these cases, while others have permitted both common law and per se negligence claims where such a statute is present.

I wanted to do that last year at Sunapee!

Yeah personally id have tracked him down and BEAT HIM DOWN...

Total bullshit...he should do MORE than make sure you're ok...thats like hit and run.

M

I was too groggy from being smacked down and landing on my shoulder

Sprawled out the guy comes over to me "Are you all right" "I got to go see my kids"

and he was gone I didn't even get to pole whip him

It took a year to recover get full mobility and strenghth "adhesive capsulitis"

I smacked a little kid in the early eighties I took a little air near the base of Pats Peak and the little kid ran out in front so a spread my legs and impacted him he went between my legs and was squirming on the ground like a wounded snake I sked if he was alright he eventually recovered Im pretty sure cause when I left he was standing then again I didnt hang out too long!

Looks like I got payback!
