Jay has a Learn to Ski program for $62 which includes lift, lesson and equipment. Then as a benefit of your Season Pass you get a 50% off coupon for a Learn to Ski/Ride Package for a friend (ages 10+), non-holiday.

This puts the total cost at $31.

My wife's ski school seems to work pretty well, and it's not too expensive. It goes something like this:

Wife: I used to ski a lot. We should go sometime.
Me: We used to go when I was a kid, but it's been 15 years. I agree, we should go.
Wife: Pat's Peak has a night skiing deal, $20, rentals included.
Me: Sounds good. Let's do it.

At the mountain:

Wife: Here's the gear. Put it on. You remember how a chairlift works?
Me: Sure. Let's go.

At the top:
Wife: Okay, you're at the top. See you at the bottom. How you get down there is up to you.
Me: Whee!!!

(the next day we were buying our own equipment.)
