I was on my way home from Burlington last night and turned the cruise on and off at times...it's still relatively new to me and I like it when there are no cars on the road...never have really used it during the winter on other cars...

What do you do?

I mostly use it when I travel to the Whites, After I get through some traffic spots on Interstate 91 around the malls just north of me, I put it on and cruise all the way to Exit 15 in Vermont. Sometimes I will use it when we go to the beach but whenever there is too much traffic, it's pretty useless and more of a hassle.

It is not recommended in conditions where there could be slippage, such as rain, snow/ice or sand.

Otherwise I LOVE it... gives my foot a rest on the commute across 101.

My old 2000 Stratus ES had cruise, but my current car ('00 Cherokee Sport) doesn't. I did like the cruise and do miss it at times. I didn't use it much in CT, but it was great for heading up north on 91 or 93.

Driving in traffic all the time, I tend to floor it when I hit the open road. Whenever I'm not in traffic, I turn it on about 10 mph over the speed limit so I don't get a ticket. If I set it faster I make sure that most cars are still passing me so they get the ticket. (Reminds me of a saying my friend has: "If a bear is chasing you in the woods, you don't have to run fast. You just need to run faster than your buddy next to you")

10 over will definitely get you pulled over on I93.

i hate cruise control. not too great for gas milage either as the engine needs to over compensate for not being able to predict hills and may go back and forth while going down hill. probably relatively harmless on a flat straight away, but other wise the engine having speed up and slow down to keep a consistent speed drains extra fuel and also is kinda annoying.

Almost any out-of-staters who exceed this in NH are pulled over.

Yes, this is one reason why I 'sometimes' use it...it does cut down on fuel efficiency...FYI cruise control is an American concept. No European Cars come with it as standard equipment in Europe.

I use it in sometimes on long trips. Definately don't use it in snow or rain, it may be rare that it would cause problems, but to me its not worth the risk.

We checked with the departments of transportation for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Washington State as well as visiting several websites of other states and the consensus is clear: Don't use cruise control during winter conditions such as when it is snowing or icy or under other slippery conditions such as when it is raining.

I use it on rare occasion- usually have to figure out how to turn it on again whenever I do. Usually just when I'm having trouble maintaining steady speed myself ("just one of those days")

I only turn it on when traffic is light enough, and even then it's mostly for spped regulation so that I don't creep 10 over and get a ticket. Driver fatigue is rarely a problem. The 3 hr r/t commute, plus whatever I drive while at work, conditions my body for long drives.

I set it on 74 when I get on the NYS Thruway during my commute and unless somebody from Mass or NJ gets in my way - I keep it on.. ;)

Saves a ton of gas...

It's fun during weekdays, but it gets icy, bumpy, and crowded on Saturdays which makes it kind of bad. Fun cruiser on weekdays though and one of the best runs on Skye.

Oh, I think you mean it in a different way.

Even more for SUVs!...my lesser-powered 2000 Xterra's computer-code wants to floor it up the hill at the set mph...no matter what the pitch...wastes fuel..I don't mind making a hill in rural NewEngland ~10 mph slower, but during expansive open drives, in obvious speed trap environs, and during those heavy-foot occasions...such as after a good, long day of exhaustive skiing.....it's useful and nice, less tiring both physically and mentally....I can do more miles/day with it and still be lucid.

Using Crusie Control in NJ is like attempting suicide...never would use it on the NY State Thruway...or near hartford...once the traffic lightens up, I'll cruise.

And contrary to what's been said, cruise will increase your mileage...at least that's what I find...

Driving down to Florida I locked her in at 70...ok so it's flat...but everyone was blowing my doors off and I never had to worry about breaking, because I wasn't catching anyone...

Got 25mpg for a full size town and country...

When I put the Thule coffin on, That's probably drop to 17 though

I use the it on the NYS Thruway between Catskill and Albany every day.. On a good day I only have to turn it off a couple times..

I also used to use it when I worked at Ft Dix in NJ on the NJ Turnpike..

Not only does it give me better milage but it also keeps me from getting tickets... :)

ok, so I meant between sausage-tree's and NJ...it's like a race way

Use it from Saugerties to the Hariman toll too..

True - busy holiday weekends I can't... But normal everyday stuff... yes...
I set it at 74mph...

Maybe I'm just lucky...
