Magic Faithful:
The news in this Alpine Update is coming way too soon this year. But it's just been one hellava "rocky" ride Mother Nature has given us this season. And, I hope we don't see the likes of it for another 50 years!
With the tireless efforts of our mountain ops crew, we have tried to deliver as much snow as humanly possible this year--much more than in the past--and they kept it in great shape with superior grooming. But the crew can only do so much without a little help from above. And, that has been in short supply. With the funding in place to get even more snowmaking on the hill for next year, Magic will be even better prepared to pick up the slack when Mother Nature heads to the beach instead of the mountains during the winter.
With temps the last two weeks in the 50s/60s (not even below freezing at night), the snow pack is just not there for us to stretch it out through next week, much less to April. The forecast is calling for it to go to 80 degrees next week. In Vermont??? So needless to say, Magic is going to have to yield a bit earlier than expected this season as this weekend will be our last official open weekend. (Now if the heavens open up later on with a huge dump--see last Halloween--then, if we can, we will try to do a pow day here for everyone.)
But, this being Magic, we don't hang our heads and bemoan this heat wave...No, we go out in style! ("Remember when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor??? Let's go!!!")
Saturday is "Spring Fling"!
Saturday is St Patrick's Day!
Saturday is "Moustache Cape Day"!
I think the last one says it all. Come up and enjoy the last of spring skiing here and let's just have some fun together. The weekend is supposed to be sunny and warm, so you'll come back to work with a nice tan line, especially where your fake moustache was...
The Magic Alpine Club will host a fun race, free to all, on Show Off. Capes and Moustaches are expected to fly down the course. Simply sign up Saturday morning in the lodge.
Any one wearing a moustache or green will get 10% off tickets at the ticket booth.
Any one wearing a tartan/kilt will get 20% off a lift ticket (please remember your skivvies!)
Any one playing the bag pipes gets 50% off a ticket (less if you play poorly)
We're grilling on the deck for lunch!
Spike Dog Tooth will be Irish folk/rockin' apres ski
BLBP will be icing beers, mixing drinks and preparing some great food for apres and dinner (some Irish fare will be added as well!)
We have 20% off tickets for Saturday and Sunday (moustache or no moustache)--only online at our store here.
Please have a safe trip up to McMagic this weekend. We thank you for skiing and riding with us and let's have some fun in the sun this weekend!
