You know I was just thinking about this the other day, I am looking to buy a pair of mogul skis and I was thinking should I spend my money on those or just a pair of reg. semi fat all mtn expert skis, I know skinny bump skis do help a lot in the bumps, but I thought that I should be able to handle reg. skis in the bumps after much debate with my self I have decide to skip the bump skis ………… for now at least

wider skis in tight icy easter bumps aren't alot of fun..I'd rather ski the bumps on race skis than poe skis..IMHO./.for big sloppy spring bumps..wider is good..to plow through the chop

one thing about shaped ski's and snowboards is that they make turn intiation much easier however i actually see very few people on the mountain carving a solid turn. its more of a an intial carve that turns into a skid. the only time straigt up carving works in on open terrain. in the woods or in springs stuff its about whatever is the path of least resistance. a couple of short turns here, jump turn there. i also found that a board with taper work really well in the spring slop. that being said there is a right tool for every job but if you are good enough you can just get it done with what you have. i can build a whole club witha leatherman but it a hell of alot easier to use the right tools.

You know, if you're going to be predominantly skiing bumps when skiing at Sundown you should consider the bump skis. Knowing how you ski, you would really rip on them. I went about 60:40 between my bump skis and mid fats last season.

I would say I still have to think skiing with the new skis. Old habits die hard and I try not to drive the tips like I did with my old straight skis.

The skis don't make the skier. If this were true then all a person would need to do is buy the best gear then that person would be the best skier. Instead that person just becomes a poser.

The right gear makes the sport more enjoyable for skier.
