I did it as a role model for my little guy (he was 3-years old at the time).

I occasionally skip it on nice, warm spring days (although my son can't take his off). Unfortunately, that's probably when I need it the most . . . Spring Skiing.

This will be my 3rd season wearing one, and I always wear it, even in the spring...especially since It saved me a from a likely head injury once as I banged my head pretty nicely on some solid hardpack snow.

I've been wearing one since 2000. First day out with it, I broke it in by grazing a tree in the glades. I now have a custom racing stripe down the right side of it! There's still one guy in my group who refuses to ski with one! Not much to protect I guess.

I tell my kids that you need to wear a helmet to ski, so I'd be a bit of a hypocrit if I didn't wear a brain bucket myself!

Plus, as a tall person (6'3" before you put on my boots and click into the skis), I couldn't tell you how many times I've been whacked in the back of the head by a renagade saftety bar trying to lower itself just as I'm getting on the chair!

Careful most helmets come w/ a warning that some damage may not be visible therefore rendering your helmet to little more than a plastic hat. But I guess just a grazeing won't be grounds for replacement. But if you do take a good wack you might want to consider a new one. IMHO:daffy:

Last year was third year skiing and started wearing one 1/2 way through first year...made sense to me. Daughter wore one from Day One when she started skiing 4 years ago...she'll probably upgrade to a POC helmet this season.

It still amazes me though how many kids you still see out there not wearing one. It's pretty mandatory for kids on bikes and it's probably only a matter of time before it is for kids on skis/boards.

I wear one.. But there are days i don't.. mostly when it's like 70 out...

Same here. I wear one until it is 60+ and sunny. At that point in the season I am not skiing in areas that I am AS worried about it. At that point overheating could be more danger.

Yup, for the last seven years or so. Was getting too many scratches from branches and watched a couple people get concussions when they landed wierd. I'm also tall and hit my head on the lifts even without the helmet. Who wants early onset Alzheimer's?

PSA: Giro G10

I was browsing the gear directory, and noticed. BCO has black G10s on sale for $72. There are cheaper prices out there on the G10, but usually the sizes are limited. BCO has M, L and XL. I love mine.
