What "rift"....????

As far as I'm concerned there is no rift...

My point exactly! For cryin' out loud, it's not like you started boarding 10 years ago. You do remember the days of "Us vs. them"? Last time I checked, it is, for the most part gone. Many peoples' view (skiers' and riders') that this (Burton's latest marketing stunt) is going to push us back to the days of skiers vs. boarders, and for what? so Burton can gain some market share with testosterone-poisoned 15 year-old males that think this is good?

I know you're a smart guy. Try to convince me that the "Poach" campaign is good for snowboarding in the long run. I'm a reasonable guy. I don't think you can possibly argue this point in a reasonable manor.

My son

My seven year old son inspires me. For him skiing is pure joy. He finds every bump he can on the sides of the trails to hop off of:daffy:. If he's on a low angle groomer he skis with one foot up in the air. He thinks the mountain is his playground. When I ski with him I have a completely different experience than when skiing alone or with adults. It's all good, but the seven year old version is really what it's all about - joy and discovery!:snow:

The thing is... I simply do not care... It's just backgorund noise to the reality... The only thing that interests me is seeing how skiers react.. And thats just for entertainment..

Jake Burton is a hero to me...

Likewise, I find it amusing that some snowboarders think:

  • This is anything other than a marketing stunt
  • That boarders are protected under the constitution and that their "Rights" are being violated
  • That snowboards will be allowed on the lifts at MRG in this century
  • That this is good for snowboarding

As I said before, Jake may have done many great things. This isn't one of them. If you want to consider him a hero, that's up to you. I'm inspired by watching a guy rip it up with only one leg, or a parapalegic tearing down white heat on a mono ski, or trying to keep up with a skier 30 years my senior. I'm not big on using the term hero, but I will apply it to the men and women of the armed services who will put themselves in harms way so we can have the freedoms we enjoy (and sometimes take for granted.)

And your entitled to think whatever you'd like... just as I can make whomever I'd like to be my hero..

As far as I know there were'nt restrictions based upon your thoughts of what makes a hero on this thread...

And you can take all this and push onto a group of people that have nothing to do with this "stunt" and try to make them explain somethng they really don't care about..

now I'm a troll?? I thought you liked me?

If trolling is saying something someone disagrees with - then I guess I am a troll...

Jake Burton inspires me - on many levels...

I don't have the luxury of having many 80 year old carver guys to look up to in snowboarding..
