There are a lot of us on here who get to our “Home” mountain Fri. nite and don’t leave until after skiing Sunday. How far do you drive? Also we have it made and all, but do you find yourself tired out from all the skiing and travel come Monday morning?

It's only 2 hours each why for me. I'm a little grogery Mon. getting up, but of course it's well worth it.

It's about 3, sometimes a little more... not every weekend, but many...

And yeah, I'm tired on Monday, but I wouldn't change a thing.

2:45/3 each way. I'm wiped out by the time I get back Sunday, and on the occasions I do day trips I need to make sure I have a very good night's sleep or I'm in danger of nodding off between K and I-91. I'm usually able to recover by Monday morning.

Last year it was driving up Saturday and back Sunday. This year will be a ski house, and will be much, much nicer going up Friday.

And wouldn't change it for the world.

About an hour to get home from work and then around 3.15 to the mountain. 3.15 to 3.30 hours on the way home. Monday I am a mess. Friday I am on edge.

Every weekend. I had not missed one is 3 years until the mini Dead tour I did this year.

2 hrs on Friday night up. Although I usually plan on 2.5 with stops and traffic.

2 hrs Sunday back.

Wiped out, yes but it is better then sititng on the couch all weekend, and you always have soemthing to talk about on Friday afternoon and Monday morning at work.

Key for us that keeps us sane is leaving as much as possible at the house and not schlepping stuff back and forth.

Drive for me is a about 200 miles and 3 to 3.5 hours. Usually in bed early on Saturday and Sunday nights so no big deal waking up on Monday morning. Would rather be skiing than anything else on a winter weekend.

Us too. We ski at least 5-6 hours each day so it's early to bed for us most night. It's kind of sad but on weekends when we don't have guests we sometimes go to bed as early as 9:00pm. Gotta get the early bus in the morning for first tracks!

We're weekend warriors too. Leave CT every Friday between 5:30 and 6:00pm - 2 hours 20 minutes drive, sometimes longer if I-91 in Springfield is backed up.

Day tripper here, but as a kid my family had a ski home at Okemo. It was 2:15 - 2:45 coming from central Mass there.

Those that travel anything over 3-3.5 amaze me. No way would I do that and it's not that I mind driving; I spend a good 6 hours a day in my car for work.

If I'm fortunate enough to have a ski home sometime, I'll sacrifice quality of mountain for spending less time on the road. My free time is too valuable to me to spend a lot of it in transit. I'd love a place near the MRV or Stowe, which are 3:15-3:45 from me, but would probably choose someplace on a lake in more the 1.5-2 range as summertime enjoyment for me would be important as well.

4:15 in good weather. I take an hour nap before the Sunday trip home to recharge and let the traffic dissipate.

Mountain is only 0:45 away from home. Pocono house 1:15.(20 mins from Mt) Usually only spend Sat night there.

Will travel up to 6 hours for a weekend. With I-80 almost outside my door and I-287 not too far I can get quite far into New England and NY all on interstate highway.

When I owned a condo in the MRV, it was 3 hours each way (3:15 - 3:30 in bad weather or if my wife was driving) - 200 miles. I didn't think the drive was too bad. Just got used to it. Unfortunately, I had to sell the condo 2 years ago so now we're doing day trips & overnights at various mountains.

Better question I think would be, who's home mountain IS their home mountain, because it's the closest. :-D

I regularly drive two hours each way to the mountain twice in a weekend for a total of eight hours on the road. In some ways, it is better than staying at the mountain cause you are at home Friday and Saturday night so you can get stuff done and you drive home Sunday ready to relax for the evening. In some ways worse because you spend half your drive time going back and forth two days in a row rather than the folks sitting at the bar slopeside or in a hot tub or whatever you folks do that stay at the mountain. Ultimately, it is a heck of a lot cheaper but requires a heck of a lot more determination. It is very easy to slack off on Sunday knowing the slopes got hit hard Saturday and conditions are only going to get worse for Sunday.

I work and play at the Loaf. I am lucky enough to work 2nd shift here. I get out at midnight, drive an hour home. Try to get to bed early and back here around noon and ski til 4 when I have to work. I only ski on weekends 2 times a month. The rest of the time I ski during the week, so we basically have the mountain to ourselves!

My home mountain is the only mountain I ski at. It also happens to be the best in the east! I've skied them all and I just love it here. :spread:

I am a daytripper and it is 1:15 each way. I really wouldn't want to regularly drive much longer than that for daytrips. I can understand long weekend drives for condo owners, but I am amzed by the people that drive 3-4 hours each way just for a daytrip.

I used to sympathize with all you weekend warriors...I was living 25 miles from my home mt, Sunday River, and working in Bethel...so my skiing commute was the same as my work commute...my car seemed to know the road and put itself on autopilot. Two years ago we ended up moving to SoNH for work...so now my drive to the "home" mtn is ~2.5hrs...we fortunately have two family places to stay nearby, one on a lake 25 miles south of SR...2hrs from home, the other up at the mtn. However, I spend a lot more time on the road in the winter now and we're not able to get to SR every weekend...but the upside is about half of my travel is out west and involves skiing. While I wish we were still living up in the western ME mtns, I don't mind the commute to get there on the weekends...especially since my home mtn skiing is supplemented with many days out west.

Every Friday around Noon/12:30PM I travel 18 miles from work to Blue mountain..then I travel back to my place around 5PM after skiing..

Every Saturday at 715AM, I travel 17 miles from my place to Blue mountain..then around 11AM or when the crowds get out of hand I travel home..Sunday is a repeat of Saturday. When I go skiing up in the catskills it's usually leave early AM Saturday amd return Sunday PM as the skillz at 3+ hours is out of my daytrip range. For southern Vermont(Killington southward)..I leave afterwork Friday(Noon) and return Sunday afternoon..for Stowe..I prefer to leave on a Thursday or return on a Monday..

I'm an early bird on the slopes..I prefer to ski from 8AM till 1PM or 2PM and then eat a late lunch and start drinking away from the slopes. I rarely ski past 2PM..even on ski trips..especially if I'm driving home after skiing as I'm not a big fan of driving a long distance in the dark. Last season for opening day at Killington, I drove up on Saturday afternoon got to Rutland for dinner..then skiing Killington Sunday until 2PM or so and then drove back to PA..that's something I prefer not to do as it's about double to triple as much driving as skiing.
