I love skiing in a moderate snow. Makes it feel so much more like winter, and the refresh is great. Whiteout is a bit much for me as I like to see where I'm going, but I love it when the flakes are flying.

If forced to choose between sunny and cold and whiteout, I'd choose whiteout as the mountain would be a lot less crowded and the conditions are likely to be better.

:snow:I'll take the whiteout...keeps the crowds down, free refills and plenty of visability avail in the trees and right on the sides of the trail. Nothing beats the sound of the snow falling in between the squeak, squeak, squeak of the one or two noisy lift towers on the way back up for another round of refills. Walking into the lodge covered in snow at 4:30pm with thighs that feel like jello is one of the best feelings I know. Keep it coming!:snow:

Stealing the idea from the Poll on Favorite conditions, what is your favorite weather to ski in.

I think mine would have to be skiing in a heavy snowfall. Not white out, but maybe 1-3" per hour. A lot of people don't like to ski while snowing, but I like the new snow refreshing the surface every couple hours or so. I also like the silence you get when your in the middle of the woods and you can't hear anything but your own breath because the snow is damping the sound from everything else.

Mine too!

But just to nitpick - 3" an hour is more than dumping, it's frikin pukin'! And that was not one of your poll picks to choose from. I would say that 3" an hour would be classified as whiteout conditions.

My best days are total whitout days preferably without 50 mph wind. such a good feeling to ski wall to wall powder with no ice and it refills constantly. Usually very few people braving the elements and the few that do are having the time of their life.

I like it all, but I would say Cold with blue skies is the best especially after a dump. Not -20 though! :eek:I
I like when it's snowing moderately also if it's not crowded and the trail gets replenished some after each run...:snow:
