Book is awesome. Not, though, as good as Fear And Loathing on the Campaign Trail '76.

Haven't wached the whole Dep movie. The Bill Murray "Where the Buffalo Roam" is great. I hate to recommend sex, drugs, and violence to anyone. But, it's worked for me.

I'd have to agree, while the Johnny Depp version is good, i think Murray's version is better.

Never read the book. I think the Depp version is over rated. It is an experience. Murray version was okay. I gave both three stars in the Netflix system. Which the way I rate movies, means neither left an impression and were forgettable but neither very bad nor very good. I might have liked the Depp version more if it wasn't so hyped.

I've only seen the Depp version. Despite living a drug-free lifestyle personally (well, outside of alcohol and the occasional cigar) I still found the movie pretty entertaining.

Gotta disagree with you guys. Murray's version didn't hold a candle to Depp's, IMO. Even HST himself hated Murray's version. I thought it was ok, but Depp really nailed Hunter's mannerisms and personality.

My favorite quote from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas:

"And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of old and evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."

If you guys are HST fans I gotta recommend you watch Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson and Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride. They are awesome views into the life of one amazing writer.
