I was thinking the same thing about everyone else who posted here.

We went through this last year, all these predictions about winter and all it did was postpone it until January. What I wrote is pretty much what happened last year. When will everyone learn it's just bad mojo to try to predict when winter will come?

I'm waiting for the "When will the first ski area opening occur" thread to start.

So, my post here was just a bad mojo antidote.

If this year were like last year i would gladly take it. It got off to a horrible start. A lot of people up here were getting ugly. For some reason I never got discouraged. I moved up to the North country and we were playing golf in December. In the early season if it is warm I can take it. I know winter is comming and it will be here soon enough. What I get discouraged about is a big start in Nov December only to have it rain and take the hill back down to zero. That has a dampening effect on my mojo

You people are depressing me, stop talking such non-sense. This year it's going to start snowing in November and keep going until April with NO warm-ups!!! :snow:

There I feel better now!

I like the Fall season too; warm days, cool nights.

I take what I get...I wouldn't be upset if the season starts slow and ends again like it did last season.

Whatever happens, I just know the "watch for the water to boil" approach to winter doesn't work.

Bah! I'm far from superstitious. Talking about or making predictions about the ski season have no effect on how it will turn out. It is what it is and I'll continue to yammer on about it for the rest of the summer and fall whether you like it or not! I might otherwise go insane... ;)

By all means yammer on.

It's getting colder!!!

I fired up my woodstove for the first time of the 07/08 heating season yesterday. I'm in the Mt. Snow area at about 1500 ft and it was really chilly all day yesterday. I always feel like a bozo lighting a fire in August, but it seems to be the case that by the end of August there are days when we are all chilled to the bone and a fire really hits the spot.

I'm predicting intense heat through Christmas, with a gradual cooling off by the middle of January.

I figure most resorts will be able to make snow around MLK weekend.
JimG,
PM me ...concerning your weed connection eh'! ....., OR else...you sound like you're in need of 3-4days up ...around either the Katahdin area with a canoe/kayak or around either Higgins or Scarborough Beach....hitting Ken's Place each day @noon for their scallops & haddock sandwich...with a brew or two...;-)

Heh...and who couldn't use a few days in the wilderness combined with some good eats?

I'm fairly content this summer...fishing has been good and I've been able to juggle time to get out and row a few miles each weekend. I was spoiled last weekend on Candlewood lake...my buddy Karl got a new pontoon boat. Big and comfy.

I'm not ready to get revved up for winter yet.
