Give your prediction for the first measurable snowfall (> than 2") in your area. For Northwest CT, I'm going to say November 4.

First flakes- October 20th
First 2"- November 5th
First major snowfall- November 25th

My predictions last year:

First flakes- September 30th
First 2"- October 23rd
First major- November 24th

Actual last year:

First flakes- October 26th
First 2"- November 24th (Thanksgiving)
First major- December 9th (turned out to be the best storm of the year here)

Actual 2004:

First flakes- September 29th (thats where the crazy ass prediction for last year came from)
First 2"- November 12th
First major- December 20th or January 6th... depending on what you call major

I'm going to do this Price is Right style. Northwest CT, November 5.

We're gonna jynx it. We're all picking pretty much the same dates. Spread'em out folks.. maybe to late November so it'll snow earlier.

I repeat - what elevation? There are high peaks that could have already picked up 2.1" of snow. It'd be gone quick the next day maybe only a few hikers are aware of it. Maybe nobody is aware of it. If not yet - it's virtually certain one of 'em will within the next month and you'll easily be able to see it from LP or elsewhere. But that's not what you're talkin' about, is it? Some fleeting accumulation, way up high, here one minute - gone the next?Shouldn't we set an elevation, say down to at least 2000'?

I'm with on this one WHW...I guess it's not a problem if you don't have any mountains in one's area....

MAN, you guys are optimistic! lol. i called it last year, i doubt i will nail it two years in a row. my prediction is going to be for the mountains in the notheast kingdom and northern greens, not for my house or immediate area which is pretty low elevation wise and not subject to those early season freak snow falls.

november 2nd.

Well, for the conneticut River Valley, I say we get the first 2" October 25, first big snow storm, November 20th. That sounds about right to me... Maybe not.

October 20th - still warm as hell
October 30th - still warm but not as hell
November 24 - i will see a single snow flake and lose my mind while wife laughs at me
December 14 - the weather people will forecast 10-14" of snow. I will go through hours of gear check, tune my skis and stokage. It will rain instead.
January 15 - it will snow 12-14". i will catch a cold 2 days before and will be in bed with a 104 degree fever.
March 2 - it will snow another foot of snow. it will change course to east and miss most of new england. of course by march 2 i will be in northern vermont on a ski vacation skiing icy man made snow.
April 20 - i will go on a killing spree :uzi:

Hmm... i think thats a template for just about every NJ ski season I have had. Especially the killing spree...

I'm not bitter.

koreshot..just outta curiousity..what do you consider south jersey??

Anything south of Trenton is South Jersey in my book, though I live another 20 miles south of Trenton. Why do you ask?

it's all in your perception. just curious what yours was...

look at a map, trenton is central jersey.

if you live in n jersey(bergan, passaic, warren counties), it is consider trenton south jersey.

if you live in s jersey(cape may, salem, atlantic counties), they consider trenton north jersey.

i live east of six flags..195 central jersey.
