If you wondered how high this seasons El-Nino will finish above the average temperature?? It currently sits at #6 on the difference from the average temperatures and peaks between December and January.

Colorado having a rough seasons early snowpack(-46%) at this point is interesting. Lets see where they go from here.

At least it doesn't look as bad as the 2015/16 shitshow where the east had less than half the average snowfall.
"There’s about a 1-in-3 chance that the Oceanic Niño Index will reach 2.0 °C, which has happened four times before in our 73-year record: 1972-73, 1982–83, 1997–98, and 2015–16."

The Northeast Ski mountains need a little more Cold temperature help on this storm coming!! Its looking too Warm and RRRrrrrr-ish for most lower elevations while Northern VT might pick up some Snow.

Following this storm though is another system right before thanksgiving with much better Nighttime Temperatures for the Snowmakers and the moisture in the weather system.

Vermont feels a little more wintery now as "Famous Vermont Road" is now closed for the Winter season. With one of the most notable indications that winter is coming in New England is the closing of Vermont Route 108. The road that connects Stowe Mountain Resort and Smugglers’ Notch Resort shut down for the 2023-24 winter season yesterday.

The Northeast isn't alone as there is a "Slow Winter" roll out across most of North America so far : (

Slow start but I'm heading to Colorado Saturday. Looking like Eldora may be one of the better choices at this time.
They are at least due some new Snow out of the Snow system passing through Colorado.

Maine Is Open For Skiing

Three more Vermont Ski Resorts Opening Tomorrow to Join Killington Resort.

After another cold stretch of snowmaking, more Vermont ski resorts are getting ready to open for the season. Currently, Killington is only open ski resort in the Green Mountain State. That is about to change, as Okemo, Stowe, and Sugarbush are getting ready to open on Friday.
