Looks like a great way to die.
I would say bad injuries to yourself and wreck a season more then die but a head hit wouldn't be good. Would think they could of found a little more snow with the pictures I have seen recently.

There's a comical phrase used by the skiing community to describe when it snows just enough for skis to slide, but not quite enough for it to be safe -- 'fast grass'.
Fast grass isn't for the faint of heart. Rocks, dirt, mud, and other less-than-slippery surfaces are waiting to end your season before it even starts.

While we are just about half way through Fall get in line Ski mountains as the next "Snow" dumping US storm systems are starting to take aim at the west cost. How long till a solid Winter storm marches our way to the Northeast with cold air to greet it : )~

More Colorado Ski resorts opening earlier then planned.

Pennsylvania ski resort seeing snow : )

Captain Midnight,
El Nino doesn't bode well for the Northeast. Head to Utah...

Captain Midnight,
El Nino doesn't bode well for the Northeast. Head to Utah...

I hear you and I think I might check out the West again and add Utah this year too then : )

Instead of some of the warmer Northeastern El Nino prediction maps I have seen I am hoping for a wild snow weather year if one of the "Stronger" on record Super El Nino's pushes farther into December or January with many warm up and cold snaps but we need the cold to match the Nor'easter storms that will come later in the season for Amazing Snow dumps that might be for the record books and not end up with drenching RRrrrrrrrrr.

If you are near one of these tasty Ski Mountains then your seasons Snow appetizers are waiting for you. One, Two or Whatever trails you hike too : )~

Best "Turns" and "Snow Hunting" to all this Snow season :)

So its possible that Vermont's ski mountains especially at elevation might see 3" inches or more of snow with a little mixed precipitation in it.

If the Mountains can mix in some good snowmaking with this storm both before and after they might get a base down on multiple trails that will survive the warm spell with some moisture coming towards the end of next week. Multiple mountains should be on tap by Thanksgiving time if this weather can throw us some more snowstorms our way : )~

Models have shifted towards this being an all-snow event. Weather channel is saying 3-5" tonight at Killington with a bit of light mix tomorrow morning.

For those freaking about a forecasted super nino.

“The El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) - a naturally occurring anomalous state of tropical Pacific coupled ocean-atmosphere conditions - is the primary predictor for global climate disruptions. The MEI, which combines both oceanic and atmospheric variables, facilitates in a single index an assessment of ENSO. It especially gives real-time indications of ENSO intensity, and through historical analysis - provides a context for meaningful comparative study of evolving conditions.”

Layman’s terms, a lot of El Niño values pertain to water temp. MEI - Multivariate Enso Index - looks at a number of variables, many atmospheric. So, what reaction is the atmosphere having to the warm water?

The current value is 0.3. That is not even “warm”. Super niño of 1983 was 2.7. 18997/98 maxed at 2.4. The MEI is out of sync with the other El Niño indexes, but cannot be ignored. Just like the NCAR forecast cannot be ignored.
