In sections. He's been working on this for about 5 years now.

He's most likely assembling a kit, not fabricating all the parts. Although the sheer number of parts in the plane build dwarfs the number in the RC cat...

they say those plane builds end in divorce the majority of the time...

Yes, it is a kit, but he has to put every rivet in by hand.

His "pawn shop find" must have saved him a penny or two:
http://www.canyonhobbies.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=KYO31851B&click=62061

He could have bought one of these
http://www.constructionscalemodels.com/productdetail.aspx?recid=8693
http://www.eurotoyshop.com/Toys/SK-4911/Siku/Pisten-Bully-with-crane-winch.html
and transferred the plow to the Kyosho, assuming it fits.
But then, there's probably not much fun in that for a tinkerer....

He didn't end up using that anyway. He decided to build the whole thing from scratch.

Those Pisten Bullys (at least the first one) are 1:43 scale, the Kyosho Blizzard is 1:12 scale. The plow would have been way to small. I don't think he was looking for the easiest way to do this anyway. ;)
