Glen Plake Love him or Hate him?

I saw him at Shawnee Peak one night when we were racing. He took a run on the course, and skied with a lot of the younger kids there that night. He also signed a lot of autographs that night. He was at the bar later, but didn't get a chance to talk to him. He and his wife were surrounded by fans all evening.:beer:

first time i met him was during the release of 'license to thrill'. quite honestly he was a punk w/ an attitude. in the several times since, most recently at the shannon door in jackson he has matured a lot and is a good guy, imo.

some of you may remember the falling out between him and stumpy. shorly thereafter stumpy released a bunch of his wrecks that were edited out of his flicks. many of the wrecks were right after rippin' a line at squaw in 'blizzard', anyway it was childish on his part but i think plake just really pissed him off. from my perspective it was funny to watch and also brought him down with the rest of us mortal skiers.

i have skied with him and he's a great skier but there are a lot of great skiers that didn't market themselves as well as he did. he is good for the sport.

I have never skied with him and i have never seen him ski except for the films hes been in but my son loves him and idolizes him. He was at a ski expo on Long Island last year and wehn my son found out he was going to be there he begged me to take him to meet him. He was a very nice and pleasant guy..not cocky...talked with my son for a few minutes about skiing and stuff...my son was all smiles all day after that...heres a picture to prove it.
