In the past, I talked to the locals and Chris B, they have snow making capacity to cover the majority of trails in a single night shift. I can't recall how many inches they can make in a shift. However, thats the place I would go after a warm/rain spell.

Yeppers. Based on experience, they can cover the most of their trails within 24-48 hours.

They opened most of the right side of the mountain after maybee 36 hours of on and off snowmaking just a few weeks ago when they opened that side a few weeks ago.

Wow, given their size thats a serious snowmaking effort! Now if only Cannon could do the same. Theyve got that whole Echo lake just sitting there, yet it never seems to show up in much snowmaking.

*nod*

I don't think it's the ability to make snow simply by the presence of guns, I think it's simply how much snow one of them can blow, and how many they have. I've actually skied there at night while they where 100% blowing snow on a trail, and it easily piles up to 6 inches of puwder puff.

Yea, that first one was sometime during/late on the first day they where able to make snow. So the difference between pic 1 and 2 is about two and a half days.

Agreed, I definitly wish Cannon would do that. I think they just don't really have the snowmaking capacity. To me it seems it may have something to do with the fact its a state mountain. But Cannon is a great mountain, and in any normal winter, they dont even need snowmaking...they get real good snows up there in the notch.

On a side note, cannon is trying to open up Upper Ravine off of the summit. Bring on more terrain!!

Me thinks its just they dont have the money to dump into lots of snowmaking. Seems that most of their terrain have the pipes and guns, just they arent used all that often.Either way I love the place.
