i hear what you're saying but, for me, they are two totally different things. Rumble, lots of the stuff at magic, paradise at sb, crock run etc are more then just bump runs. They involve, as you state, terrain features, numerous switchbacks, rocks, grass, bushes occasional trees etc. Seeded courses are fun just for pure bump skiing. I enjoy both, but i focus less on simply trying to stick a line on a natural trail then on a course like the one above. Lines come and go on natty runs like you are referring to. Maybe this isn't making sense but i just see it as two separate, but very enjoyable, types of skiing.

This is well said. I enjoy seeded runs for honing my bump skill so when I get on the natural runs I really enjoy like those mentioned above, I can concentrate more on the subtleties of the run and not so much on hanging on to a line.

This might be the dumbest question ever- but can snowboarders ski bumps?
I've never seen it done but given what some of them can do I have to imagine it's possible?
As a skier I stay clear away from bumps but I'd like to learn how to handle them better.

YES!

I watched a snowboarder bump compettion a few years ago on OL. Some of those boys ROCKED in the bumps...

Snowboarders can do bumps and they may be able to rip them (and huge props to boarders that do rip and don't side-slip) but I don't think they have the "clean" look of a good bump skier. This is due to the fact that a snowboarder cannot face squarely down the falline. The transition from heel to toe on a snowboard is not as smooth as the edge transitions of skis in bumps.
:argue: ??

Do that in pea soup fog (and I mean cant see your hand). Then I will call you a bumper.

I'll give you one hint as to who did something so stupid.
The hint is "I decided to break up with my girlfriend that day and go skiing

oh and ski dork...those bumps come well over your waist, it is not easy.

I didn't say they were easy. I said they were EASIER than the same size natural bumps.

I do enjoy all of the bump runs mentioned above. Gunbarrel @ Heavenly is one of my favorite. I know that is out west but I had to mention it. If you like punnishment you can do the gunbarrel25....it's (see who can do) 25 laps on the gunbarrel run= 1700' @ 30 deg...

Yikes!

Looks nice HPD..How steep is it?

I believe Wilderness is the one of the flattest, if not the flattest, of all world cup mogul courses. the main aspect that makes wilderness diffulcult is it's usually very, ahem firm.

competive mogul skiing changed a long time ago. gone of the days of natural forming skied in bumps. todays mogul comps must conform to FIS (USSA) requirements.

Yes, I aggree that you do feel very robotic skiing a seeded course, but for me i sometimes think it's more fun.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I had not heard that from anywhere else. I work that event every year (usually crowd control at the finish) and have be told by many athletes that they really liked the course and looked forward to coming to WF.

One year I was the hand timer, at the line, freezing cold, wind blowing, papers blowing, didn't care for that job at all.

Where did you find that stat that Wilderness is the flattest FIS bump run out there? Id love to know. Wildneress isnt exactly flat here boys, but Ill give you that the pic doesnt make it look that steep.

HPD, thanks for the picture. I know you guys love those bumps, I'm sure I would too. The picture highlights the run well. However,

Man the SLIDES look way cooler than that bump run! Come on guys, lets be realistic, freaking out over some seeded bumps when there is some serious gnar in the background. I have to get myself up to whiteface when the slides are open!

I tried to go back and edit it, but couldn't edit the title.

Click

on your initial post and then "Go Advanced".

I took care of it. Mods can easily edit titles just by double-clicking next to them...
