Conditions: Epic! Blue skies, corn snow, warm temps

Trip Report: This was an epic weekend. Not sure about the weather earlier in the week, it turned into some of the best backcountry skiing I've ever had. On Saturday, while hoards of folks were headed to Tux (1500+ estimated by the rangers) we skinned up GoS trail running into half a dozen friends along the way. We climbed the second gully, some of our group headed over for the snowfields while the rest skied back down. We then skinned up to the base of the snowfields and took two more runs there. It was perfect conditions, no wind, bright sunshine, and the snow corned up without turning into slush.

We finally pried ourselves away and started back down on tired legs (with a tired dog) for the ski back down. It was a little bumped up, but soft for the entire length. We skied right to the parking lot.

Sunday, legs still screaming, we headed up to Tux, this time carrying skis and hiking in our tele boots. We were slow climbers (and got a late start) so we only did one run (Left Gully) but had a great time. People were skiing most everything, saw some great skiers on the various Hillman's chutes, and some nice skiers on the ice falls, the headwall, left gully, heck, on all the runs. Not nearly as many people there on Sunday, by all accounts. Winds were a bit higher, especially up top. Skied back down to the cars except for the Connecter between the bowl and the little headwall. Might not be able to ski to Pinkham after this week.

Pictures to come, I have 400+ images to cull and process.

Heading up with my son on 4/21.
