Trip Report:
So here is the update to this posting now that I am home! I had the awesome fortune to get out on the hill both at night and this morning for New Years! Gunstock's new years celebrate is small, but very very cool. There is a real local vibe to the hill, and the staff are truly great! One thing to note is after skiing Sunapee on the 25th, I have a greater appreciation of the twisty trails up off the top and they are not wide open boulevards that is at Sunapee... On to each outing!
Tuesday Night:
I had arrived on the hill at 7:00pm, with the wife and little guy in tow. There was all sorts of activities going on including face painting, jugglers, horse drawn carriage rides, and of course the balloon lady. This was great for my soon to be 3 year old and me, since I was able to get out for a run before we went back to the house. After heading home for about an hour, I made it back to the hill around 10pm. Keep in mind this was the first time I have skied under the lights at Gunstock. Conditions ranged from packed powder to scrapped off. And man was it cold! But bundling up, I was able to keep warm. Skied until the last lift turned by 11:30. The highlight was the torch light parade along with fireworks. Here are some photos from last night.

Wednesday Morning:
So after getting home after 12am, and quickly to bed (with a brief disruption from my 2 year old), I was up at 5am looking for coffee... Needless to say nothing was open at all, but I still made it for the opening bell. I was 4th chair up this morning, and conditions were nicely groomed out. Smooth silky corduroy all over the mountain, my first run was down Trigger, soon moving over Gunsmoke (Upper, Middle and Lower), next I made my way back over to Trigger and down through Redhat, up the triple to cannonball. With a short break for some hot chocolate, back out onto the hill for a few more runs off of Trigger and lastly to Tiger. Crowds started to build, and figuring I got the runs I wanted to get in, I bagged it at 10:30. Not to mention, the wife was dying for coffee and we have other errands to do now we're home. All in all, between last night to today a good days worth of skiing. Here are some more pics:

Hotshot run out - getting there another good dump should make it open!
