What an awesome event, perfect run to beat out the Canuck. Patrick...I think you guys would make a cute couple but can you handle having a girlfriend who could kick you butt on any mogul run any given day? Norwich is a nice town, you could work for King Arthur Flour when your not skiing. :wink:I recently read that many elite mogul racers end up having severe back or knee problems later in life.

Riv - do you really have pajamas that look like their unis? Now that's abit strange

Maybe there's a degree of difficult chart and Hannah's are considered more difficult, I don't know.
There is a chart, backflip and 360 are equal at 1.05, a 720 is 1.28. A quad twister is a 1.03, a triple daffy is 1.07.

The big thing is Kearney was super clean for the entire run. When she's on, nobody can touch her turns or speed, and her airs were clean. Being clean is more important than going big, an excellent 360 will score higher than a good 720.

Any one else think the woman's uniform choice looked kinda like they were skiing in their PJs?

I don't know. I like the women's uniforms. I'd wear that. :D

I only saw the qualifying round, I thought they looked like pjs also. But looking at Hannah's runs and Heather McPhie, it was a great idea. Hanah had great turns, knees where stuck together and a very quiet upper body, Heather was not that far behind in terms of tech. The blue contrast againt the white snow really high lighted those parts of the turns. Compare this to the closest competition, the Canadiens. They were wearing off white with dark knee patches, the turns and upper body movement looked blury compare to the blue contrast.

IMO, I think this was excellent scouting, Kristi Richards stengths is the air and Jen Heil was making a comeback for this year. The blue uniform show cased the strength of Hannah's and Heather's turns.

Hannah wins her Gold medal in moguls 18 years to the day after Donna Weinbrecht won the first Gold medal in the 1992 Olympics! Go USA women!

That's nutty. I would say hucking a backflip in the bumps is way sketchier than a 360.

A clean quad twister scores lower than a 360? Whacked.

Harder to really float a clean 360. Backflip, you're staying in line with the bumps, 360 you're going across the fall line. Look at the landings of each, and backflips tend to be landed better than a 360; half the time a 360 gets landed half a line over.

The big thing with both the 360 and backflip is how much they're floated. A quick, clean 360 doesn't get you full points; it probably takes as much hangtime to get a good score with a 3 as it does for a quad twister.

That was an awesome event! It was so cool to see a Vermonter win. It obviously was the lead story when the local news came on later after the Olympics that night. She had a great run; all those women did really well.

i feel the US Olympic Committee should tell the athletes that when they are on the podium regardless of place, they need to put their hand over their heart...even if they dont want to sing or mouth the words, it would be a classy gesture.

Hannah's run was awesome.

I loved watching the coverage of the women's event. The men's event was good too, but I felt like the women's event was a better competition.

Still, enjoyed them both. I feel like NBC is doing a much better job covering the non-core events (i.e. anything other than figure skating) this year.

I don't normally pay much attention to the Olympics, so I have no reference to how it's been covered in the past, but I would have definitely much preferred to see some more (or all) of the runs, not just a select few.

I wasn't counting at the time, but I feel like they showed about 15 runs from each competition... A lot more than the 5 or 6 I feel like they normally show.

However, figure skating still rules, and they showed the entirety of all routines. I lucked out and slept through the first set of routines (fell asleep right as they started and woke up just as they were going out to Cypress for the mens qualification runs.
