Hannah wins her Gold medal in moguls 18 years to the day after Donna Weinbrecht won the first Gold medal in the 1992 Olympics! Go USA women!

Agreed, thought there was some really nice skiing by Americans...but am I just imagining that I heard a line by one of the announcers about a "first"..y/n? ...and I'm sitting there going "excuse me".....maybe a first for two on the podium in moguls! Also liked Michelle Roarke's air... Moguls judging = always suspect. Fwiw I've always felt that judges lowered Weinbrecht's scores for years cuz of her being much smoother than others... Judging seems better nowadays. $.01

Any of these athletes would kick my ass in the mugul comps but I just for the life of me can't understand the attraction to this event.Every run looks the exactly like the other with the exception of a wait, break in the knees,or a,ooh, pole plant out of place.I had to laugh the other day when the color commentator says "she carved some nice turns there".What? There is zero carving in moguls competition. While I can truely appreciate the great skill it takes to be at this level and get down that run in such fast speeds, for me it has about as much to do with real alpine skiing as does the aerial competition.I guess more than anything I don't like events that are judged. At least they time the run and score it for 50%.Flame away!

There is carving in a mogul turn. There were good close up examples of it in the Olympics footage. A pure carve with no skid? No, but to say there is zero carve is inaccurate. I wonder how many carving purists truly carved a turn back in the straight ski days? Was that even possible? Newer shaped ski technology makes carving easier. I still suck at it, but it's true. But there is no specialized equipment that makes mogul skiing significantly easier so there is no faking it in the bumps. Those that are good bump skiers are in a way slightly addicted to them. So for these people watching a mogul event is very enjoyable. There are a lot of specific techniques in bump skiing that many people can't even identify. Still I get why some people find it repetitive. I feel that way about aerials. Different strokes for different folks.

And what exactly is "real alpine skiing?" A slalom or GS course with gates and bee-netting is as synthetic as a mogul course is.

Greg if you can ski bumps (which you can better than me) you can carve on the flats. Just a few quick technique pointers and you would be doing it like a pro in less than an hour. I can show you, as that is my strong point...

Shhhhhhhhhh....... Carving purists never want to hear that hack job bump skiers can pick up carving with relative ease... ;)

Carving and running gates is somethign I want to work on. But as spring approaches, it's going to soon be all bumps all the time again for this hack.

You really think that in an hour one can negate their bad habits and learn proper ski technique?

Here is a test. Take your carving skills on flatter terrain and replicate it on steeper terrain.
