I don't consider myself knowledgeable in terms of ski gear but i've formed opinions over the years, most of which i think are pretty solid. Today one of those opinions was proven incorrect.

Suburban Sports hosted a Hart demo at Sundown today. I enjoy skiing bumps but have never tried true bump skis so when i heard Hart was going to be around i was excited to give the F17 a try. Hart makes 2 F17s, the classic and the world cup. I tried the classic, which as a bit more side cut, 104-64-92 vs. 99-66-87. The demo's were 167cm and didn't look to have a scratch on them. My expection was that the skis would be quicker in the bumps but sloppy everywhere else. I was 1/2 right.

I only took 3 runs on the F17 as the Bump or Bust comp was going on. took the Harts down the B or B course twice and once thru Nor Easter/Exhibitoin bumps. Yes, the skis felt quicker than my nordicas (126-84-112) but i was really surprised how they skied outside the bumps. they carved (as best i can carve) nice short radius turns, a lot carvier than my skis. i had as much fun getting to the bumps on the F17 as i did in the bumps.

I'd always thought of bumps skis as single purpose but the f17 might just be a nice everyday hardpack ski.

Hart has rejuvenated themselves into a niche/botique ski at a reasonable price. It's a very small staff. Distribution is very limited. You are lucky to have a nearby shop selling them. I tried to get someone to do a Hart show and tell in the fall but came up dry, even with a call to the factory.

I took out a pair of th Phoenixs yesterday, very nice ski and felt like I was almost able to carve a turn or two with them! Was with my nephew and was hard to get him to sit tight while I swapped skis so those were the only skis I demod.
