What is your set up? What is your "go to" movie for showing it off?

Nothing fancy here. Samsung 42inch LCD. I use my PS3 as my blue ray player. Planet Earth on Blue Ray is the Show Stopper.

Nothing fancy here either. 42" Panasonic Plasma hooked through a Yamaha receiver with a pair of Advent speakers. I have a couple of surrounds but they're wired and the room doesn't allow for running the wires in a convenient manner, so their not hooked up. I need some wireless surrounds at some point.

Skiporn and live Grateful Dead shows are the tits

52" Mitsubishi HD DLP. Hooked into a mid-grade Sony 5.1 Surround DVD 5 disc changer. The DVD is standard, no Blu-Ray or 1080p. So I usually tune into Discovery HD Theater or NESN or ESPN HD. Its 1080i so again, not the greatest, but still looks and sounds pretty durn good.

I am running a Epson HT720 front projector ceiling mount to a 92" screen. Receiver is a Sony ES3300 7.1 that is set up as 5.1 to Parasound speakers. The other channel is set up for a second room to the garage. No Blu-Ray yet, have a Oppo 980 Upconverting DVD player. Verizon Fios for the TV sourcing. All wiring is run through the wall/ceiling.

Pretty boring set up 27" Panasonic w/ Panasonic DVD and VCR -- we really don't do much TV so it works for us

60" Sony XBR1 with Pioneer A/V receiver with 7.1 surround sound (Advent speakers). PS3 used for Blu-Ray. I still don't understand why it only put out 7.1 through the HDMI. My receiver does not have HDMI so I had to use the optical for the PS3 and 7.1 is not supported throught the optical. Anything on Blu-Ray works best. I have a copy of Steep on Blu-ray but have to wait since my HDMI inputs are bad on the TV. The HDMI PCB is being replaced nect Friday.

No surround? Loosing 3/5th of the sound. 1500 watts is meaningless if it is not used right.

just so you guys know power is meaningless. its all about the about how efficient the speakers are. also are you talking peak or rms power. most of the specs for home stereo speakers are meaningless becuase they do so much massaging of the data to get it to look like a better speaker. this is something that is a hugh problem in my industry. its almost criminal what some manufacturers do to there data.

Yada yada. You're amazing and I have a weak Home theater system. Blah Blah.

Yea, the speakers we have set up are older but they were a high end set up in their day.
I am still amazed at the quality of sound and clarity, even compared to some of the modern stuff our friends have.

Surround is coming, but I'm not sure when.
Dirt bike parts come first.

Is the samsung a 1080p? I have heard bluerays requires a 1080p set to work ..true?

I think they require a 1080P to realize their full potential. If your running a 720p or a 1080i, I would think that it would still work. ..But a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
