every year i take the family up in feb.to hunter and stay a few days midweek. i don't know if its my timing or luck but it seems that most of hunter one is closed. i checked the 1/29 snow report and upper highlands, upper hemlocks, westside glide, central park, lower highlands, hidaway and rip van winkle were all closed. i know they race sometimes on upper highlands but cmon! iv'e been trying to get on that and never can seem to. the kids and wife love the other ones mentioned but it always seems to be a crap shoot.are they only open on weekends? anybody got any info or have the same experience. whats the deal?

Those trails are served by E lift which runs on Weekends only. Upper Highlands is never opened to the public. In addition, the trails off E lif are not for beginners or Novices. Typically, C and G lift are the only 2 lifts running at Hunter One midweek.

i didn't know that. thats a drag that upper highlands isn't open to the public. it would nice to have a taste of all levels during the week in one basic area. seems like a waste of mountain.

I've seen them let the public on the Poma a couple times...over the past 10 years. The E is an old double, and even on weekends, it doesn't see too much traffic....the demand to run it really isn't there.
