Similar situation here. Blew out my acl on Feb. 11th. Officially hung up the boards on the 17th when I got the results of the MRI. Went under the knife on 3/20. Its been 4 weeks, and I'm just starting to walk again without crutches and/or a brace. Wheeeee!!!

And Nelsap, hang in there, best wishes to you and your family. I hope your relative kicks cancer's ass.

sounds like you're right on track, Paul. That's about when I ditched the crutches. Keep up the good work! And as an added encouragement, I had my ACL surgery on 3/27/03, and I was back out skiing that December. Git-er-done!!!!!!!! :)

As for my current injury, I'm in the brace for another 3-4 weeks (that will be 2+ months total). I just opened it up to 30-degrees flexsion last night, and my physical therapist was able to my knee bent to 70-degrees. Of course, that's passive motion, so when I can get to 70-degrees active, I'll be very happy.

and NELSAP, best of luck to your family member. My mother-in-law has been battling with the Big C for 3 years now. It's not an easy road, but it is possible to beat it. Fight the good fight!

Okay, this is getting creepy... similar injuries, my M-I-L has been fighting the Big C for almost 5 years now...

Thanks for the encouraging words, it helps immensly. Both the Doc, and the 2 PTs I've been seeing tell me I'm actually a little ahead of the curve. Degree-wise, I'm in the single digits now as far as being off on extension, and I can flex to about 120 degrees or sometimes more, on a good day. Its all about getting that extension back down to 0, and getting the quad firing on all 4 again.

Good luck with your recovery. Man, that's a hella long-time. What'd you have done, again?

I wouldn't be  about cancer. It could happen to anyone at anytime.
Why would you associate the two?

Sorry, I don't understand the humor and I'm very sensitive about cancer victims.

Not laughing about cancer itself, at all. There are a number of odd similarities betwixt Kickstand and myself, I was referencing the 2 most recent "revelations"

Trust me, I've lost many a friend / relative to the disease, going through it is hell.

I tore my quad tendons. In all honesty, I wish I'd torn my ACL. It would've hurt much less. I wouldn't wish the amount of pain I felt on anyone. If you want more details, PM me. I don't want to hi-jack the thread too badly.....

Good point, don't want to be a thread-hog.

OUCH! Yeah, relatively speaking, I got off easy.
