im a lot more satisfied with my indy purchase thanks to the strong eastern spring

before march 1 i only had 1 jay day and 1 powmow day

now I've done 1 jay, 1 magic, 1 cannon, 1 powmow, 1 waterville. and I've got aims on doing at least 2-3 more at some combo of magic, jay, saddleback, cannon, waterville

its still not a really sexy price per day for me, but i overworked the ikon pass this year so my overall ski access cost per day average is pretty good ($32.55 and dropping)

After this weekend I will have used 15 Indy days at about $17/day. I hope to get 20 days on my Epic Local pass in through April 17 which will bring that to about $31/day, and my overall average to about $25/day.

Planning to do only Epic Local next year which should make it more like $15/day

I'm at 11 and one 1/2 off Allied. Was planning on using it in the East a little more, but with the lousy conditions earlier in the year, it wasn't worth leaving Mount Snow.

I’m at zero Indy days so far this season, thanks to unfortunate events, family commitments, and Ikon taking priority...

But maybe tomorrow can be day one!

Which of Berkshire East, Cannon, or Waterville Valley do you think will be least worst tomorrow? Obviously, there’s going to be a hard freeze tonight, and they all are showing wind tomorrow.

Or do I stay home and keep my perfect(ly bad) record intact?

Coverage still good (on the snowmaking trails) at Berkshire East this afternoon, I posted a few photos in the Berkshire East thread

Berkshire East is what I went for, thanks.

Yes, coverage still good today, they didn’t seem to get a hard freeze overnight, and the wind was not an issue at all.

And, now they’re done.

Thinking of an Indy double-header tomorrow: Cannon and Waterville Valley. Cannon spins lifts at 8:30 vs. WV 9:00, so Cannon AM and WV PM.

@skef I don’t think that will work
Only one pass can be redeemed per day per person.”

Well, shucks, thanks for pointing that out! Now I guess I have to choose…

It actually doesn't work. I tried once and the system would not let the second ski area redeem a day. Unlike Ikon where you can not make a reservation and still scan good at the lifts.

Does that work on a reservations sold out day? Thinking about loon and windham over here

In my experience you can ski without a reservation but you'll get a note from Ikon afterward saying don't do that. Same if you make a reservation then don't scan. They threaten 30 day pass deactivation but I've never heard of anyone having that happen. Pretty funny they can't just tie the pass to the reservation electronically. Proceed with caution.

Well, I never used my Indy this winter as I was grounded by my doctor, but my son got in 20 days with his wife and 2 kids, and my older daughter got 15 with her kids, youngest daughter got 12 as some of those resorts are a little bit far from her corner of Maine!

I didn't get in as many days as I have in the last couple seasons. Two at BEast and one each at Mohawk, Catamount, Bolton, Jay, Pats Peak, West, and Waterville, as well as an Indy allied evening at Bousquet. Didn't make it to Magic or Cannon thanks to the shitty snow until March. On the bright side, I made good use of my K-tickets and had a great day skiing with a big group of friends at Mount Snow. Only bought weekend day tickets twice - one at Belleayre and one at Gore, both of which are pretty cheap anyways. Bunch of evenings at Southington too.

Dartmouth Skiway and Whaleback have been forced to leave the No Boundaries Pass, now on sale for $99

be3816_df728e2286004cb4b14cc0d6939a650e~mv2.png

Here's the short version:

We've lowered the price of the No Boundaries Pass to $99. It now provides up to 3 days of skiing at each of our three partner mountains: Tenney, Mt. Abram, and Granite Gorge. Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway were unexpectedly given an ultimatum by the Indy Pass and forced to leave the No Boundaries Pass. We're actively looking for new partner mountains to add before the season starts. Everyone who already purchased a pass was offered the lower price or a full refund.

Here's what happened:

We put the 23/24 No Boundaries Pass on sale just a few weeks ago. It provided between 1 and 3 days of skiing at each of our five partner mountains (Tenney, Mt. Abram, Granite Gorge, Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway) for just $119. Apparently our product was viewed as a threat by the Indy Pass.

Both Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway were on our pass last year, and we've worked with both of them in prior years as well. Last season, Indy Pass created their "Allied" resort program. Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway joined that program. They were not part of the formal Indy Pass, but Indy Passholders were entitled to discounts on day tickets. This program and the No Boundaries Pass existed simultaneously last year without issues, and Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway (which operate as non-profits) benefited by being aligned to both products.

Immediately after we put the No Boundaries Pass on sale this year, the folks at Indy Pass gave Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway an ultimatum: Get off the No Boundaries Pass or we'll terminate your relationship with Indy Pass. We weren't directly involved in those conversations, but the management teams at Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway told us they were shocked and frustrated that Indy Pass would put them in this position and they didn't believe it was right. There may have been other promises or threats made by the Indy Pass that we're not aware of.

Regardless, both mountains needed to do what's best for their businesses and we respect their decisions. It's tough to believe that the Indy Pass, an organization that claims to support independent mountains, would put two small non-profit ski areas in a position where they needed to give up a revenue stream. We'll always support and do what's best for our partner mountains, and we would welcome Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway back with open arms at any time. We hope our members will still support them this season and in the future.

Ironically, the Indy Pass has been sold out since April. Even if you wanted to buy one right now to support Whaleback and Dartmouth Skiway, or any of their other independent resorts, you simply can't.

Yuck, Indy is making it hard for me to continue to buy their pass. Also, if you want to see a slow moving line to get a lift ticket, go to any resort that uses the Entabeni system (new Indy owners).
