The Tahoe shaped hole in the Indy Pass gets more glaring with every addition elsewhere though. With Homewood closed, there's still Diamond, Donner Ski Ranch, Rose, even little Tahoe Donner would be something.

im honestly surprised the current record isnt higher. the indy facebook group has some people who strike me as true autists
It’s almost low enough to ponder an attempt … which is more prestigious, most days redeemed or highest number of Indy pass resorts visited ?

Isn't it like 45 bucks midweek with another season pass? Am I imagining this? I planned on doing a couple days there next winter
This is why from an IndyPass point of view, the Burke 50% off isn't really worth anything. It's 50% off the "full price" of $90ish. The $45 you pay is about what they charge on weekdays anyway.

Problem with all Indy is you have to pass up too many other cool places. But yes the number does seem kinda low. With so many close places in the Northeast, it should be easy to beat. I would like to know who got the most in 23/24?

Last year, I definitely missed out on several planned Indy visits because the start of the season was so bad. It just wasn't worth the extra drive for me so we ended skiing a lot more at Gunstock than planned as it's only an hour away.

One of the challenges in the Northeast is Indy doesn't have a lot of early or late season players. Few are open by Thanksgiving and most are done by 4/1.

We did: Saddleback, BMOM, Jay, Cannon, WV, Pat's, Bolton. Two days each at all of them though.

Year prior was those same mountains plus Magic and S6.

Jay was skiing being pretty damn good early in December. It immediately washed out thereafter but that is just EC skiing. Cannon seemed to throw in the towel early last year but Jay has a consistently spectacular season length.

I think that ultimately is just the reality of most independent areas though that aren't sitting at 13k feet ala Loveland that season length is just isn't going to compare to the big players that can float it as a marketing expense.

Yep. Waterville opened 11/25 and had an amazing Late Nov-Early Dec last year. Midwinter coverage before it all washed away. Loveland is a different animal altogether. Such an awesome mountain.

I don't deny the economic realities of why Indys have shorter seasons.

Jay we always save for our final days of the season for that reason.

It was really the weather more than anything last year. That's the challenge when you only have two days. You don't want to burn one on WROD, but this year we probably will.

There was some good storms relatively late in the season last year. We had an epic weekend at Cannon around Mar 23/24. Was my wife's birthday - fortunately she skis with me so I was able to gift her powder without any guilt

Poor Christie Mountain. Not only does the Indy map have them in the middle of the ocean, but my web filter has their web site labeled as pornography. Never been to that one, might be worth a trip!

That’s the thing about these “Indy” mountains. The day tickets aren’t outrageous. So why bother getting locked into a fixed number of days and driving all over the place? I’ve done the math over and over, and always concluded I’m just as well go buy tickets (not walk-up, but the day before) when I know the weather for sure.

And for those who live near one particular mountain, they’re better off just buying advance x-pack tickets. None of that driving all over the place business.

(And Indy adding all those oversea mountains I don’t get. Ticket prices are even lower in Europe and dirt cheap in Japan. I wouldn’t seek out small mountains in Japan even if it’s free)

Why bother? 🤔 I suppose I could see your POV using it 6 days or less.

Your calculator is either broken or uses different math formulas than mine. I use mine at minimum 12 times a year. I buy the Indy Plus at $379. That means at most , I'm paying $31.59 per day.

I'd love to know where you are buying lift tickets on weekends and holidays to places like Jay, Cannon, Saddleback etc. for $32 or even $64 a day. That's even difficult to do midweek on the shoulder seasons.

It's a steal if you like the mountains on the pass, which many are some of my favorites in the East.

To each their own though

I am with you.
Last year I used 19 times for under 20 a day. The furthest I drove was saddleback and stayed over night.
The season before when I think it was cheaper I used it 18 times.
This coming season with the addition of a few mountains (Ragged, Whaleback and Dartmouth) within an hour of my home I hope to have even more. Also using a few days on my trip out west (Red Lodge, Snow King and Kelly Canyon).

yea! why bother getting locked in to spending $289 for the potential of getting 2 days a piece at jay, cannon, magic, bolton, waterville, and saddleback!

at approximately $90 a day for a weekend walk up (and that's a generous estimated price), that is $1080 a la carte spending.

'when i know the weather before' - indy does not lock you into a pre-determined date. a few places require reservations. i have always been able to make reservations the week of, often the morning of.

your contrarianism for the sake of contrarianism is so fucking tiresome, especially when you are just objectively completely factually wrong.

Yeah. I can't make that math work either. Maybe if you're just hitting Pats or BMOM. The absolute cheapest advance purchase tix at Waterville are $74 with most being $86+. Cannon it's $99 or $54 for NH resident wednesday.

Even across the ponds, most of the mega resort complexes of the Alps are €65-80/day. Kiroro, Japan is ¥8000 ($53).

My Indy break even is usually around 5 days.

World's darkest night skiing, big fun! Lot of locals wear headlamps. So if you have one, and you plan on night skiing, you might want to bring it. Patrol doesn't seem to care where you go. I don't think they close anything no matter how dark it is.

I think the value is also dependent upon where you live. I have 5 places within a day trip from where I live. And also several close by places that I have to stay for essentially free. I used it 8 times last year. Would have been more without the lousy start to the season. $36/day. Used it 13 times the year before.
