Went to Berkshire East last Saturday having made a reservation on my RFID card from last year. It was unclear from their website whether I had to redeem my Indy Pass at the ticket office, so straight to the lift I went, only for the gate to give me the angry beep instead of the happy beep. The attendant let me on anyway; turned out I did need to redeem it. Noted for next time.
They did not charge me $5, since I already had an RFID card.
I really like Berkshire East, for a small mountain they have a lot of interesting terrain. Planning to take a friend skiing this year (she's been once before), figure it's a good place to go because they have some fun green-circle cruisers from the top.

Good to know. I still have a card from two years ago. Hopefully it works. Yes, Berkshire East is a cool little place
Last year we brought older ones that they said needed to be replaced. No charge.

Skied Magic yesterday and used my RFID card from last year. Aside from making the reservation in advance, the process was simple and quick at the counter. As a matter of fact, if you have a reservation and already have the RFID card, you can go to the machine(s) in front of ticket window and activate right there w/o having to work with anyone.

BTW conditions were good. Tali and Sorcerer were "interesting" with the snowmaking whales. Recommend Up Your Sleeve" if you're looking for good snow and natural terrain.
I reserved last night for today and went straight to the lift. No stopping at the window. Second visit last season as well. Today was a solid day, probably my best ever non powder day at Magic.

Believe it or not, despite being a pretty lame town, this hotel in Claremont is pretty great and usually affordable

Hotel prices in general have increased in New England but this year I have found it to be the worse so far since Covid '20-'21

I'm weighing two options for this Sunday...

#1 is Ragged. Never been. Always been intrigued by the glades, which I would hope will be mostly open after these next couple storms.
#2 is Whaleback. Also never been. Actually looks somewhat interesting from 89. I know it's not very big, but is it worth it if the nats can get open this weekend?

Both are kind of on the way to Stowe (where I will be headed after skiing on Sunday). Whaleback is practically on top of the highway and Ragged isn't all that far out of the way, so either way it will be a fun pitstop.

I'm thinking about Ragged as a possibility for Friday, along with Cannon. I haven't been to ragged in like 30 years. If I end up there I'll try to update with conditions, but there are a few Ragged regulars on here that know way more about it than me. If everything is open at the Whale, it's definitely worth a few hours. I'd never go for the limited groomers.

Whaleback looks to have only 13 trails open. Dartmouth Ski is closeby and has more (26?)

Whaleback fully open is a gem. Some really good trees and great pitch down the center of the mountain. Skis bigger than it looks when it's on.

I was planning to hit King Pine today for a 4th day of skiing in a row. Never been. Doesn’t open until 10 and I have to drive home today while the storm will be in full swing. I’m torn, not feeling the drive. Might bail.

Tough call. They are open till 6 which would be about the time the storm starts wrapping up. But like Kusty said 350 vertical, that’s a long day on a smaller hill.

This storm is like the perfect timing for me, I’m out of work at noon and making a beeline for Pleasant. Should be good skiing in the peak of the storm and out of here by the time I leave.

Was originally planning to hit Abrams today but that drive home would be even worse. If this storm had come in overnight it would have been a whole different ballgame.

But, after this storm and the next this weekend, back to Black on Monday and probably BW on Tuesday, should be great skiing. I’m loving this winter right now.
