I was up there today to drop of the skis for a tune.

According to many of my conections throughou the building, Wa is looking to open Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I will be there when the open. I'll take th "long way" to work!

Excellent.

Skis / boots / clothes will go in the car before I leave for work on Monday.

I thought they might be doing that with this weekend of cold.

GO WA!!!

can anybody update the situation. So far I was told definitely not opening for Monday ... POSSIBLE on Tuesday but no confirmation.

If opening day Friday is that considerate holiday or bronze Pass valid?

Good news... the racks are out! Haha... I didn't end up making it there today but snowmaking is underway for tonight on Upper Conifer, Indian Summer, and Ollies... should be coming on on 10th and Lower Conifer any minute as they get to them.

At ski show in Boston today, Wachusett staff said opening would definitely be T'giving weekend but earlier in week was a possibility.

Early season already shaping up to be much better than last year!

It's a normal day. They're not money pigs like Killington.

Either that or they changed the policy since they last opened on Black Friday 2 years ago.

Yo
Any updates on Wa wa opening?

I've got a silver pass this year and wouldn't mind getting my picture taken and making a few WROD runs...

Fox 25 news was up there yesterday and did the old "hey, they're making snow!" type story. But, looking at the webcam the base area has a long way to go still. They may suprise, but I think Wednesday might be the earliest. It looks like they have two more good nights of snow making with a warm-up on Wednesday.

For those who have been up there and know the coverage -- what's the chances of at least OK top to bottom coverage for a quick hike up and run down Turkey-Day morning?

They're officially waiting till Friday.

Bad decision if you ask me with all the rain in the forecast late week. They have plenty to open now.

:( I'm disappointed.

I was hoping to get a night in before going up to Sunday River this weekend...

Oh well.

2. what kind snow conditions to expect?

They're blowing the snot out of the base around the quad right now. Absolutely beyond me why they aren't opening Wednesday. I guess it makes sense to them to open after they lose half the snow they made... it's happened many times in the past there.

Looks like they are going to get a couple inches today with a topping of sleet. Some rain on Thursday. Friday will be an ice rink. Snowmaking weather back on Friday night, so Saturday/Sunday look like good days to get out.

It'll be fine provided they groom after the rain. In past experience (and believe me, I've had many days there post rainstorm) some of the best snow was the frozen granular after a rainstorm.
