My group, the NAADP (National Association Advocating Deep Powder) is horribly offended by the grooming policies of your organization!
I'm contacting a moderator concerning banning your group. :flame::uzi::evil:
:spin:

I tried to join, but they said I couldn't since I only have 78 under foot. I did join the NAASDP (National Association Advocating Semi-Deep Powder) and love my membership there.

Hear! Hear! To protest this, I propose that you lead the Million Skiers March on Washington. I have a dream!

Don't you mean Mount Washington?

So in regards to skiing this weekend...thinking about tweaking my style a bit. Bit first, I need to hammer out what type of wax I'm going to use. Also, I have three new set of skis for this season...I need to pick one to test out based on conditions. I'm also thinking of picking up another pair of boots...for powder days. I think I'll use my regular boots for opening day. Not sure if I'll dabble in the rocker skis or not...may be a bit firm. I like to wait until there's at least 3" of east coast fresh before I break out the 120mm banana boards. Smeaaaaaaaaarin the freshies! 3" of snow on 100mm+ boards...sawwweeeet!

Waxing your boots for the best performance.

Odd you should say that. I just snow-sealed my hikers last night.

Glenn told me that peanut butter makes for an excellent footbed. ;)

and riverc0il told me that nails in my snowtires make for the best traction ;)

That said, I knew the spacehead grad student from Somerville who would bike to school and work every day in the wintertime. He dealt with ice by banging roofing nails into the tires, backwards and snipping them short. His tires lasted about a week  And one time he slipped on ice and went right under the front of a car. Luck for him, the car wasn't in motion.

Now back to the topic - What's Alpinezone?

Oh-kayeee.... this conversation has taken a quick dive into the gutter.

Anywho....

I also echo the suggestion that, to become "the next Epic," you'll need more instruction discussion - discussion which ends up devolving into a "my-way-or-the-highway" war between different schools of instruction, including a lot of bashing of well-known instructors and systems (e.g. any mention of RS or HH starts up some massive flame wars, user bans, moderation of posts, etc. - lots of feelings hurt over a tempest in a teapot).

And then there's the business aspect of Epic that can get in the way of the community aspect - not fun at all!

Frankly, there's a lot of good ski instruction/technique talk at Skier Village (full disclosure: I'm a coach at said site), but I love how AZ is focused on the Northeast, which is a good niche! AZ and SJ work well together to gather the full range of Northeast (and a few Mid-Atlantic) skiers!

Thanks for the greetings, Liquid! I plan on being a bit more participatory here an on SJ than I have been, of late!

Accurate.

And I like that you also mention that there is good quality ski instruction out there.

These groups are always a bad place to be when it should be snowing but it ain't
Maybe we should just call this the January thaw and get it over with.:daffy:

I don't pray, I just pay homage to Ullr. Now, where did I put my Ullr statue?
