I try to buy a patch from every mountain that I ski at.. No matter how big or small, if I skied there I try to buy a patch there. I've collected patches from every single mountain that I've skied at over the years with the exception of Grand Targhee and Shawnee (I'll ski shawnee again this year I just always forget to pick one up and GSS picked me up the GT one last season but he somehow misplaced it.. I don't know if I'll get back there again but who knows..) Either way long story short. I planned on putting these patches on the back of my camelbak, however there are simply too many and there isn't enough room for all of them. I was trying to find something else that I could attach them to... then I thought what about on the back of my jacket (north face softshell all black in color... I also have a blue/black one as well) Then I though nah that might be too gaperish..
I guess I could attach them to my ski bag, but I kind of like the jacket idea. I'm just not sure if that's stupid or not. I'm not trying to look like a toolbag out there..

FWIW..
My ski mountain list isn't too impressive, but it's where I've been and I like to represent where I've spent my quality time as it has been some of the most fun I've had in my lifetime..

Pa - Jack Frost, Big Boulder, Shawnee, Camelback, Spring Mountain, Blue (Little Gap), Elk
Vt - Killington
Wy - Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee
Co - Vail, Breckenridge, Keystone

(I guess I could have added Snow King for Wy as I poached a run there when they were closed, and Doe for Pa. but I was like really small and barely skied there at all <-- neither of which I have a patch for or even consider having skied)

Didn't think of that... That's a lot better than putting them on a jacket.. I guess I just want to get these out of the plastic bag and onto something that's all...lol
The camelbak was a good idea I thought cause I only ever use it on trips where I'm going to be out all day and also to keep all my extra crap in on the way to/from the mtn.
It spends more time in my car than on my back....lol

Won't sewing them on ruin the waterproofing of the jacket. Personally I would find something else to put them on.

Way gaperish. But at the end of the day, we're all gapers at heart so do what makes you happy and don't worry what others think. MrMagic plastered an old ski jacket with patches and only busts it out for special events. He wore it for the Sundown bump comp last spring:

If you can rip, you can pull off the gaper look from time to time...

Phillycore your 143 length Icelandic Scouts are alot more gaperish than your patch collection. I'll make a point of picking you up a Grand Targhee patch when I'm back there this season...who knows..maybe the one I misplaced will turn up when I go through all my stuff next month when I move.

We used to get our son pins for every area we skied.

Here is another fun idea, save the lift tickets and make them Christmas Tree ornaments.

Sure... Put 'em on your camelback... Just don't let your dad know.. He may not take the news so well..

Seriously...
In this day of age.. Cause we all had patches back in the day( BG - Before Gortex)...

If i see more then one patch - I think total gaper... And as you add patches and pins.. the gaper meter goes higher... You got a cowboy hat with pins and you aint Billy Kidd... The gaper meter goes into the red zone...
I almost got the crap kicked out of me at the Mangy Moose for making fun on a Texan with more pins then hat... they got kicked out.. I got to stay.. Cause I wasn't wearing pins... :)

My gaper chachki (sp?) consists of stickers on the car and roofbox from ski hills I've skied and an Eddy Bros. black cowboy hat with 1 bootshaped Jhole pin I picked up in Jhole years ago. Critics be damned, I like my hat. I have quite a few tees and ball caps from ski hills as well.

Sewing them on would make you a gaper. Use duct tape instead. Duct tape automatically makes you hard core.

Seriously, who really gives a crap? This whole "gaper" thing is getting really, really tired. It's still (theoretically) a free country. Do what makes YOU happy, where what you want. As long as you're not harming anybody, who cares? So what if someone tags you as a gaper? It's better than being a judgemental a-hole.

Real skiers and boarders are too busy tearing down the slopes to waste their time picking on people whose only crime is the fact that they're wearing Starter Jackets, jeans, or rear entry boots.

Blessed are the gapers, for they shall inherit the slopes. Embrace your gaperhood.

I thought about stickers and then was thinking that once I put them onto something they are pretty much there and that's it. The patches are removeable so I went that route. Of course I had to go and find some on the internet for those places that I went to and didn't get one and possibly might not get back to. I like the picture frame idea so I'll probably do that. I always pick up t-shirts and stuff when I go on trips both long and short sleeve they help my stoke level remain high!! I'd wear ski logo stuff all the time if I could. Although my Got Rum T-shirt I picked up in Nassau kicks ass as well.. It goes along good with my Got Oxygen t-shirt from Keystone.

the only reason i said you should frame them is because you will have them longer than if they where on a jacket.

The only patches that don't look silly, IMHO, are the ones that the old timers wear that read 70+ Club, 75+ Club, etc.. Those are just cool and those guys can wear whatever the hell they want. I hope to be skiing well into my 70's so I can have a patch too. :D

No No No Never sew those patches on good skiwear.I look at it this way,if you really need to show everybody where you have skied then you probably have not skied very many areas of interest. It's like the guy who brags about how tough he is or what a great skier he is.He's usually just the opposite. As posted earlier, mount them in a frame or something to hang on display at your house and not on your person.
