DMC...Thanks for the awesome pic. What's the status on the road through the park? Is it fixed yet?

Road still closed - rumours running rampant.. Some claim it won't open until next spring due to more "hot spots" being discovered... Some say Nov 1st....

There's a town meeting at the Mountain this week - Orville always has a lot to say. Since he helped build the modern road originally...
I can't go but will get some scoop for y'all...

28 degrees last night...

What's up with the road closure? I noticed that on my way to K last week.

At the beginning of the summer the state fixed up 23A between Palenville and Haines Falls.. the major road to the town of Hunter....
It opened and it was incredible!!! Smooth - regraded - just sweet!!!

then it started raining and raining and raining... And closed a few days later :(

The road got undermined due to hue mudslides on the upgrade just after Kaaterskill falls... The whole road had to be taken out and rebuilt..

I'm not basing my comments on anything more than pure speculation, but again if it was me I would use the opportunity as a final marketing push for the A41. I know nothing gets me more pumped for the season than to see the results of blowing out the mice! Might sell some passes...

Well, I didn't expect it, but it looks like Sunday River's snowmaking was the photo opp to make the final push for the A41s. With that, I wouldn't expect to see Killington start making any snow unless it's real deal base building.

Well at least Loveland is getting a break from the weather and the guns have started back up last night after nearly two weeks of temperatures too warm to make snow. I guess that they will be opening late this week as the weather looks cooperative.

If Killington does open in October I will make a run up there with my son. I guess it is time to move the ski gear to my dad's house just in case8) .
