Isn't that what we said about November and December? And now the suns getting stronger every day (just rubbing some salt in my wounds). Buy a plane ticket if you can.

It's looking like the storm for tonight and New Years Day will be a freezing rain/sleet to rain type storm with some backlash snows for far Northern New England. The upcoming storm for late next week will have no cold air to work with and will be a rain storm.

NOAA forecasts colder than normal conditions to build in Alaska and with the growing sunlight in that area of the world later in the month of January, arctic outbreaks can occur due to the building warmth from the sun, so I have read.

It's something to hope for.

Looks like I'm going to go broke buying plane tickets to points west the rest of the season. I was thinking of Alaska but they just extended the strike deadline for my union so I'm going to hit Utah, easier trip. I've just about given up with east coast skiing for now. Too much money and time to ski on ice. Rant over.

My thoughts exactly...haven't we've been hearing the same thing over and over by the amatuers here and the so-called professional meterologists on tv, etc.? Fast forward to mid March..."It looks like it will be unseasonably warm until around the 19th, after that look for a cold April and May!" LOL!

This is beyond depressing. Grand total of two days out so far (1 Wachusett, 1 Sugarbush; 10 year old daughter got an extra day in at Sugarbush). Her first three race practices canned the last three weeks, this coming Thursday in looking like it's going to crash and burn too, Friday night lesson for her on edge, and first race is next Sunday if that even happens. Must be my fault as each of the last three winters have gotten progressively worse since I took up skiing!

This pattern change has been on the horizon since late november and every week it gets pushed back later and later. This week there were strong signals of a shift beginning to take place, but now it seems it's anyone's guess.

this is rediculous, its the beginning of january and most areas wont even have decent snowmaking conditions this week!

Can you predict the weather better than these guys? No! You just feel its your place to tell them when they are wrong. What do you do for a living? I'm sure you've been wrong before.

Meteorologists know more than you will ever know about the weather and without them we would have no idea what would be happening as far as weather.

The "so-called meteorologists" quote really angers me. What are you trying to say a meteorologist isn't really a meteorologist?

I think the weather is getting to everyone. If and when it gets better, attitudes will improve. Believe me I'm getting pretty miserable and am making my wife the same. My solution is to escape west. I know this might be out of reach for some but if you look at how much money you haven't spent this month then a trip out west might be doable. I figure I saved about seven or eight hundred so far by not skiing every weekend. Utah calls...

I dunno, the cold shots we've had have allowed some mountains to get some good snowmaking in, and I gotta admit, nice 40+ degree weather makes for some pretty fun times on the slopes in lighter weights.. Kinda sucks for mountains that can't make as much snow as others, but, oh well.. :-(

so maybe al gore was right...
no doubt. but a one or two bad seasons in a localized region is not support, especially while CO gets dumped on. long term trends are the evidence that suggests global climate change, not two bad season of snow fall and temperatures in new england which may have long term implications but in the short term are statistical abnormalities.

Uhhh I would think the ASC pass would be the way to go. The river and big k are the two best mountains in the east for snowmaking.

ski'd at BW wed/thurs first chair 0745.....the only good conditions in NH. First 2 hours were fantastic, tho we are talking about one of the worlds biggest bunny hills here, it was still fun to turn em loose for a bit. Nothin wrong with high speed cruising in nice conditions compared to watching TV and complaining.

Then the sleepyheads arrived and things turned progressively bullet proof......by 3:00 it became downright scary....outta there!

Pouring buckets here in lil rhody right now and it appears rain will reach far to the north, with no chilly temps in sight.....

I am about to commence my search for some Karmas or other mid fats and plane tickets......

westward ho?
