ski'd at BW wed/thurs first chair 0745.....the only good conditions in NH. First 2 hours were fantastic, tho we are talking about one of the worlds biggest bunny hills here, it was still fun to turn em loose for a bit. Nothin wrong with high speed cruising in nice conditions compared to watching TV and complaining.

Then the sleepyheads arrived and things turned progressively bullet proof......by 3:00 it became downright scary....outta there!

Hey, I was there with my 9 yr old, wed to frid 12/25/ 12/27. Agreed, great condtions, thur afternoon, they open up more trails at rosebrook summit quad.

Frid morning they open zephyr lift and some of the trails in that section, it was almost untouched, by mid morning the trails got tracked out. By late afternoon, the bullet proof was exposed at the entrance areas near the lift.... yeah it was tough.

BW has some trails with ditches for water run off and pipes for snowmaking. We were practicing absorbtion and extension on these sections. So you can spend some quality time on these trails by doing drills.

I'm sure most regulars already know, BW is located in the valley next to mt washington and will get snow when every place else get r@#n. Either wed or thur afternoon, we left BW while it was snowing, once we drove past twin mountain proper, there was no snow on the ground. BTW keep it a secret.

no doubt. but a one or two bad seasons in a localized region is not support, especially while CO gets dumped on. long term trends are the evidence that suggests global climate change, not two bad season of snow fall and temperatures in new england which may have long term implications but in the short term are statistical abnormalities.

In Denver the locals are laughing at all this talk about Global Warming. But if you look at statistics that measure the average temp of the entire PLANET, there is no disputing that lately the Earth has been MUCH warmer than normal with no end in sight.

Maybe I should plant a palm tree in my backyard here in NJ.

sorry we missed you. first chair 12/27 was about 4 inches of fresh powder on top of butterball bw grooming. the 170 rx 8's were kickin up some roosters baby. conditions were as good as it gets for a bunny hill. fabyans express was empty for at least 10 runs. I let my oldest borrow my 168 allstars and we were rippin it....soooo sweet.

....is the secret out now? :spin: first chair 7:45 = 2 hours of bliss at bw....if you like to cruise. I have to admit I like cruising.

It actually snowed both nights before, the 28th bw groomed the freshies in....nice too, but not as nice as the 27th....

I'm getting pretty sick of this weather too. Almost a waste to buy the ASC pass.....thinking seriously different for next year!

Sunday was my 7th time out so my bronze pass is payed for!!!! I don't see how it could possibly be a waste unless you want to pay $67 for a lift ticket! Now i get 4 months of free skiing, so im not complaining... about my pass anyway

Warmest November-December on record for Southern New England Cities:

...WELL ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS COMING
WEEKEND...

.SYNOPSIS...
THE 2006 NOVEMBER-DECEMBER COMBINATION WENT DOWN AS THE WARMEST ON
RECORD FOR ALL 4 MAJOR CLIMATE SITES IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. THESEARE BOSTON...WORCESTER...BRADLEY AND PROVIDENCE. THIS IS QUITE
AMAZING AND THE UNSEASONABLY MILD WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS
COMING WEEKEND. ALSO A TOP 5 WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD FOR CLIMO
STATIONS 100 PLUS YEARS OF DETAILED STANDARDIZED RECORD KEEPING
INCLUDING ORH WARMEST ALL TIME.

This bit looks interesting:

THERE ARE SIGNS THAT COLDER AIR WILL FINALLY DROP INTO THE NORTH
CENTRAL U.S. EARLY NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER...IT REMAINS UNCERTAIN IF THIS
AIR WILL EVENTUALLY COME INTO SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. REGARDLESS...IT
CERTAINLY WILL NOT HAPPEN THROUGH THIS COMING WEEKEND.

I think the weather is getting to everyone. If and when it gets better, attitudes will improve. Believe me I'm getting pretty miserable and am making my wife the same. My solution is to escape west. I know this might be out of reach for some but if you look at how much money you haven't spent this month then a trip out west might be doable. I figure I saved about seven or eight hundred so far by not skiing every weekend. Utah calls...

Yeah but if you've already dumped the $400+ on an ASC its hard to do stuff like trips out west...im trying to move there full time now...I can't stand it here anymore...I dont have 1 day yet....have an ASC pass that hasnt been used....not that Kmarts not open...im just not driving 4+hrs to ski boilerplate with a million people on a few trails..I like my life too much..even if it starts gettting colder..we need some DUMPS to open the trees and the more "fun" aspects of our favorite mountains.

Guess i'll look forward to next year...I just have to move closer to the mtns...i'd ski kmart if i wasn't 4+ hrs away...

Oh well..

I got a grand total of 3 days in December. Sunday River on the 15th, Waterville on the 27th, and Loon on the 28th. Conditions at Loon were pretty decent at first, then the crowds moved in on 17 trails, making it pretty hazardous at the crossroads. I am still getting used to the parabolics and felt more comfortable that day until I got clipped by 2 boarders, no 'sorry' no warning, just clipped. It was time to go around 2pm, ice was replacing snow and the crowds were only getting larger.

I'm just crossing fingers, toes and eyes for better weather*

*better weather = 25 degrees and lower with snow...

This is the type of season when places like Crotched really shine...

*nodnodnod*

It's funny because one of the BEST days at Crotched so far was the afternoon AFTER the rainstorm. Softened everything up, going to stop by tomorrow after work, they're going full tilt snow making tonight.
