Hi everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I've enjoyed reading these pages and I'd appreciate some advice.

Like everybody else, I'm trying to get the most value out of a potential season's pass purchase. We'll be staying in the Eastern Townships from time to time. Jay will be a half hour away but it's not the only option. I realize that Burke access is included and that's very appealing but it is further away. Will Jay keep me happy for the season ?

Thanks in advance.

The Jay pass does include access to all of the other Mount Saint Sauvier (sp?) resorts, which are quite a few. If you are an expert skier who likes trees, Jay is the place. Be forewarned that it is getting more and more crowded on the weekends.

If you like snow:snow: ...Jay may be the place for you
If you like steeps (Face chutes):spread: ....Jay may be the place for you
If you like treeskiing :daffy: Jay may be the place for you

If your uncle shotguns beer from a can and calls his wife "sis"...well then you just might be a redneck:eek: ...just kidding:) ...have fun at jay...burkes great as well, though doesnt receive the crowds

Steve- I'd say I'm a strong intermediate skier that's just getting comfortable in the trees and on the steeps. I 've never done any backcountry, apart from some xc on marked trails years ago but I interested in that as well.

I'vre been to Jay a couple of times. I just find the layout a bit odd. Maybe that's something you get used to?

it is something you get used to if you can ski anything on the mountain and enjoy jumping into both marked and unmarked glades (which means you can pretty much ski any where boundary to boundary no problem. you probably won't get used to it if you stick mainly on the piste.

when i first went to jay peak, it was before i was skiing glades and was just getting into the bumps. i was an advanced skier that could ski anything groomed and did okay in the bumps. i hated the place. i strongly advise against jay peak if you spend most of your time on the groomers. burke is a much better mountain for cruising groomers... though burke's "average" glade is harder than jay's "average" glade, so jay would be a better place to learn tree skiing. just my two cents, but that is the perspective of someone that once hated jay (pre-tree skiing) and now has a pass there (looking to do mostly tree skiing).
