Resort or Ski Area: Jiminy Peak
Conditions: Machine Gromed Packed Powder, Loose Granular
Trip Report:
Understandably I never see a lot of Jiminy trip reports here, but I had some free passes from work from last season I had to use up.
For a relatively small mountain, I still remain overall impressed with Jiminy staffers hospitality and their desire to lay down a good base. Being able to generate a lot of your own power doesn't hurt either! Snow making was in full swing all over the mountain and didn't stop all day.
I arrived shortly after the lifts were rolling with temps in the upper 20's to low 30's (pretty much the latter all day). Despite an icy entry to the base area from the lodge, they were sporting a solid 18". Though I never officially checked, I counted 5 trails open top to bottom, all with solid tree to tree coverage with only a few scratchy spots. No lines, no waiting, I put in a lot of runs back to back, probably too many for my first outing this season, but it's made me hungry for more (and much bigger helpings).
This place should be stacked up nicely if we luck out and get a dump mid week.
Here's a shot my friend Blaine at the top of North Glade:
Check out the absence of snow in the surrounding valley!
