sunday river seems kinda out of place on your three day eastern option. is that consecutive days? that will be more than a 3+ hour drive from either jay or mrg to sr. bush would be a better option for a third mountain since you are already there (plus, bush is a way better mountain than sr, imo). ideally, the eastern is just the back up plan?

Alta Snowbird or Jay

I've done Snowbird with the 3 day Amex deal in early Dec and have had great luck with snow.
You can ski till 2:00 on the day you leave and still get back into Boston that night...

If you are interested in woods skiing, eliminate Sunday River from the list.

The "Man's trip"

Hey SKIQUATRO are you from LI? It is a "no brainer" to take the JET BLUE 8:45PM westbound any evening. It gets you into SLC by 11:30 PM. Sleep, ski three days, take the 11:15 PM redeye back to JFK on the last day. Most hotels will give you a "short rate" for the last day. That way, you can ski all day on the last day of the trip. That flight gets you into JFK by 5:30 AM the next morning. Sleep on the plane. We have done it 9 times. I can give you tons of info on good lodging, tickets, and food. That way, you can ski Snowbird, Alta (unless you snowboard) Solitude, Brighton, and/or Snowbasin (you will need a car for that). Post or PM me.

I am flying into Denver on February 15th, 2007 and we arrive at 2:00pm, which should allow for some night skiing at Keystone that evening.

The plan right now is to ski Beaver Creek on friday, Breckenridge on saturday, Copper on sunday, keystone on monday and either A-Basin or Loveland on tuesday.

You know I was planning on Smuggs for December 14-17 for a long weekend with the wife and two daughters. Only issue is the price.......even being "value season" its still almost $1200 for three days of skiing/lodging. That's ridiculously high!! I understand they have a good setup there but its just too expensive.

I think we might end up at Tremblant instead...$350 for the three nights in a condo and we'll just buy lift tickets a la carte. With our Mountain Creek season passes its 50% off lift tickets.

If you have the time and financial resources for alta/bird, there is absolutley no reason to even consider the east coast.

End of story.

The last 2 years I have done a 3-day "boys only" weekend of skiing in the Northern Greens. We'd head up Thursday night and ski MRG on Friday, Sugarbush South on Saturday and Sugarbush North/South on Sunday. It was a great itinerary!

This year, I'm thinking of going further north and hitting Jay on Friday and Saturday and Burke on Sunday. Should be a nice change, especially since I've yet to ski Burke and when I last skied Jay it was many years ago and too late in the season to enjoy the trees and powder that Jay is known for.

I actually did the JetBlue redeye from SLC to JFK last night. Normally, I hear it's good. Last night, not so much. I got about 1/2 hour of sleep before the turbulence started. It was down right scary a couple of times. And, it lasted very consistently from Chicago to NY. Ugh.

So now, I'm rocking no sleep and avoiding work. Considering closing the office door and crawling under my desk a la Costanza.

(The turbulence was not JetBlue's fault.)

Jet Blue Redeye

Hey DMO, sorry about your flight. But, and I know you realize it, every other flight on the route was likely a roller coaster too last night. Did it just bounce you, or did it also push you east? I have experienced as much as 4hr and 48min Westbound, and as little as 3hr and 25 min Eastbound. When you get that jet stream behind you can actually hit Mach 1 as far as ground speed is concerned. I actually use Jet Blue for the point to point non-stop convenience and the cheap fare since I am retired and don't care about time. My ski buddies use it because it minimizes time lost from work. They can work on the departure day, and with a short nap at home in the AM they can get into work for a bit on their return day.

Oh, that sucker moved East in a hurry last night!

Definitely not the pilot's/airline's fault. And, I'm thinking of sneaking out of here for an afternoon nap in a couple of hours.

I have not skied Smuggs, but I have heard some good things about it in regard to family vacations.

When you are ready to put together a UT trip, post or PM me, and I can give you some good information regarding lodging, and the various areas. I can also refer you to stuff posted by others that will definitely peak your interest. Go here for a taste of what you can experience:

http://www.firsttracksonline.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=1988

Keep in mind, there are 11 world class ski areas within a 30 to 60 minute easy ride from Salt Lake City, all of which compare with what you saw in the link. You can experience anything from good beginner/intermediate terrain right up to stuff that will pucker your anal sphincter! And, there is good eating at modest prices, and some interesting sights in SLC itself. Oh yes, you can party at Park City if so inclined. My buddies and I go to SKI.

I love PC, the wife and i used to go out there every year (before kids) skiing Deer Valley, PC, Canyons etc....great bars/restaurants.....skiing over the bridge right in to town in PC, and ponying up with a St Provo girl at that little restaurant there at the lift is a great way to end the day...
