So do you wanna know how long I was looking for those skis!??? Congrats lb!

There are at least one more pair in plastic/blank, not sure of the size but if you would like me to find out the size, the shop is only a block away.

I demoed the M666s a few years back. They were my second favorite right behind the Legend 8000s. The 777 seems like it would be a similar relationship to the 8800 based on dimensions but I never skied the 777. I was really surprised by how nice Elans ski. Definitely an underrated brand.

Yup. Love my M666's. Even from EC "packed powder" to 10" CO freshies they've performed well. And my RipSticks are great for Nastar and other EC use. Some feel they lack energy but drive em hard and they'll respond nicely. My only quibble is the 2 sheets of titanium tend to beat me up in the bumps, but I suck in the bumps anyways,,.,

Congrats Lloyd, I'm sure you'll be very happy with the purchase. Now, if we can have Fall already ;)

I love Elan skis - definitely an underrated brand in US, mostly due to lack of advertising. I have Magfire 10 (slightly softer than M666 which corresponds to Magfire 12) and Speedwave 14.

The two sheets of titanium in Speedwaves are tough in bumps but when it comes to speed they ski like torpedoes :) Magfires are not far behind, but they're softer for turns and much better for me to practice my technique ;)

underrated...is what I have been hearing as well. the 777 construction looks great. I have been told that technical skiers love the brand. I hope that is true.

I've owned quite a few pair of Elans over the years and still have 2 pair in my ski room.

A very underrated brand that always performs well. And even though you don't hear much about Elans, look at what are on people's feet in a lift line and I'll bet you spot alot of them.

That's what I've noticed too - you don't hear much about them and an average recreational skier rarely buys them, but then when you look around - you see them quite a lot, and mostly the advanced/expert stuff - SLX, M777, Ripsticks, etc. :) Many experienced skiers know the brand and know what it's worth.

Let us know how you like them when you get a chance to get out.

.....Yes!.....

..indeed, seeing a reply from Zook does indeed get the "It Won't Be Long" feeling going..;-)
On those hardpack-mixed-with-ice days following a slight warmup at Sugarloaf, aside from the college racers, you easily see the SLXs while riding up on the lifts. Those are the days where either the skiers keep their hips somewhat over the feet;-).....or they are the ones stopped at the side.......or worse yet, are the ones headed for trouble...
