Seems alot of talk on here about big mountains with alot of vertical. That's great, and in fact makes me jealous. Reason for that is my home ski area (Greek Peak) has a nasty 950' of vert. Just wondering how many how many other folk in here suffer from skiing a vertically challenged hill as I do.

p.s. I do make it to big vert areas at lest 10 times/year and love every second!!!!

My local hill is a rad 625 vertical feet, but they seed a nice bump run which I just lap. I try to ski there once a week at night. On day trips, I usually hit more mid-sized hills in the 1K to 1,700' range, with the longer multi-day outings to the larger 2K+ hills.

The "local" hill I go to mostly is 710' vertical. There's one within 15 minutes that's all of 240' vertical.

That's funny, my local hill is about the same. ;)

I'd love for it to have 950'!

Growing up I spent 75%+ of my skiing time divided between 2 areas that had 1010 vertical(West Mountain, NY) and 505 vertical (Willard Mtn, NY) depending on which mountains race team I was a member of that year. So I love the "smaller" mountains. Plus they really make you appreciate the "big" mountains when you get there.

My local hill, Campgaw, is only 270' vertical, but since it's 10 minutes away I go there a few times a season if I only have an hour or 2 free.

My nearest local hill is Blue Mt., with 1041ft of vertical, and it's biggest weakness for me is a lack of legitimately steep runs, not the smallish vertical.

Wow

alot more than I would've guessed. I will say this about smaller hills, and that is you really get to know the people at the hill quite good. I've been skiing there for 38 years and have made some great friends over the years. My day off is Tuesday and the place is a ghost town. It's usually myself and 9-10 retired guys eating the place up all morning. What a blast!!!!!!!!

My local home hill is 1300 feet of vert. Shawnee Peak is close to a mid size Mt. We have a lot of fun skiing there. It's nice when you know a lot of the regulars and ski with them often.

Yes, but then there's small vertical, and then there's small VERTICAL. Willard may be area challenged, but it's got some quality vert.

My local hill is Blue mountain PA..18 miles north of me...It has 1082 verts(really about 900 before the runout) and a high speed quad and six pack to boot you up. I ski there essentially everyday they're open when I'm not on ski trips..Last season I skied Blue 96 days out of a total of 119 days..that's my boy Blue..:daffy:

1082 vert..I think of Blue as a tread-mill for ski trips..plus if I wasn't skiing Blue after work..I'd be at the bar hitting on trick hoes..or surfing the interweb..

A fair amount of people here are actually regulars at small hills. Crotched Mountain has 1k, not sure on Pats, but it can't be too much more or less.

mmm, trick hoes out of PA boonies...JH-style vertical couldn't keep me away from them

so with 96 days a year at Blue, there is like a 99% chance that if I go to blue for my annual pilgrimage, I would run into you GSS. You will be getting a PM from me when Blue finally opens. You can tour guide my gaper ass around for a day.

I'm with Wa-Loafer W Wachusett...about 1000ft.

Great opportunity to be on snow and keep in ski-shape for opportunities to hit larget areas.

Thanks gawd for the smaller (cheaper) closer to home areas!!
