In honor of Administrative Professionals Day I decided to squeeze in a few more turns. Unfortunately I couldn't find any groomed terrain.

As you can see they are hanging on by a thread. No way they could make it to May 2nd.

Okay really, they didn't seem to lose any coverage since 4/15 when I was there last. Skylark(?) was real nice. Ovation was nice up top and a little narrow at the bottom. Superstar is in great shape. There are some nice lines on skiers right at the top with a skiable line of bumps down skiers left of what was the long flat area. Two nice lines have formed skiers right on the lower section. The left side is nice too.

For all the bitching I've got to say that the spring time vibe at Killington is still awesome.

Wish I could make 4/25. Looking forward to hearing about it.

my son and I were up there today too. We were prepared to drive to the new King of Spring but the more imminent threat of rain and thunderstorms in the Maine forecast kept us away. In retrospect, not sure if I could have driven up, skied and driven home safely so we made the right decision. Anyway...

On the lift at 9:02 with last run down at 2PM with a 15 minute lunch, we estimated 20+ runs. Ovation is basically done - it has 2 or 3 choke points - we skied it 3 or 4 times and it had lost quite a bit of snow during the couple of hours between our first and last run. Other than that, the other three trails have plenty of snow. I suspect SuperStar could go next week but big rain event will close the other two trails - there will be no run out back to the lift.

The terrain took a little longer to soften than we expected in the AM given the sun and warmth. By 10:30 things were soft and everyone started skiing the bumps. Our favorite run of the day was down the left or right side at the top of SuperStar, then to the skier's left to ski lines PowBumps referenced, and then cutting over to Sky Lark where the bumps were nice and the grade of the slope not too intense.

This is the second year my lift-served season has ended at Killington - 4/19 last year and a lot more was open. I'm not a big fan of Killington although today and last year are the only two times I've skied the place in the last 30 years. I'll take Wildcat with mt. washington as backdrop to end my season anytime.

One more day on Mount Washington in two weekends and the skis get put away for the season.
