Looks like Wildcat Friday and Killington this weekend, so no Killington first. Tomorrow will be a day in history.

close, maybe open the next weekend again depending on how things go. I doubt they will open again though until nov 25th unless they get more snow

if you're talking about killington NOT being the first in the least to open. not really historical. a little place in ct, woodbury ski area ended k's streak 2 years ago by opening a day or two before the sleeping giant. maybe last year also.

Most likely close until another good snow weekend unless a lot of snow comes and there is another repeat of what just happened.

Ahh...but Woodbury's "opening' wasn't sustained. And such a small area....can't really be serious contender.

Now the tough choice here is, do I wait and see if killington opens up this saturday, or do I hightail it outta work tommorow as early as possible to get to wildcat? Either way I wont be able to ski till saturday since I live about 4 1/2 hours from wildcat. I guess I will have to go for it and head to NH on the possibility that Killington wont open. Then if I do hit them up sunday on my way back home!

you really know that EVERYTHING in Pinkham Notch is weather dependant..... including the weather that lets you get there... or shuts you out.

What happens at Wildcat is truly weather dependant, as is the average customer's skiing jones.

bill9009, if kmart doesn't announce plans to open this weekend by tomorrow, i would suggest counting them out. they will know by tomorrow PM if they got it or not and if they miss the press release tomorrow, no one is showing up on saturday any ways.

Maybe this is because I haven't been a skier very long but all of this hoopla means very little to me.

Insignificant as far as I'm concerned.

Killington said they're opening the 11th and I expect that of them or earlier. If they fail to keep their word, then you'll hear from me.

Otherwise, consider me thoroughly uninterested...

Just like Huntah either last season or the season before that (forget which). They opened, closed when temps got warm and opened again a week or so later.

The official results are:

1. Wildcat
2. Killington

There it is. October 28th, 2005. The sleeping giant stays in bed a day too long. For the first time in a real long time, Killington has been beaten by a day by another top-to-bottom New England area.

is wildcat running the quad now? last i heard it was the tomcat triple only. in either case, as Austin pointed out in another thread, killington is not top to bottom because their true base is the skyeship base. they are no more top to bottom than wildcat is spinning the tomcat.

I don't mean totally top-to-bottom, I just mean more than Woodbury.

if you mean "where to go tomorrow"

its whatever is closer to you

WC and K are both @ $39 bucks.

Get out, go for it, or wait until Thanksgiving, and don't ever say you didn't know you had a choice.
