IMHO, COVID accelerated where the industry was going anyway. Which is strongarming people into purchasing passes (guaranteed revenue - I get it) with high day ticket prices. Then is there is the requirement to pre-purchase tickets (to not only get a better price but to even reserve a ticket at all).

Both of these together have taken a ton of fun out of the sport for me. No more waking up and deciding where the hell you want to go with your kids.

Pre-purchase existed for a long long time, before the pandemic, before Vail. 4-packs, season passes, WM movies, all are โ€pre-purchaseโ€. It saves tons if you use them wisely.

Yes, day tickets had skyrocketed. So pre-purchase โ€œsavingโ€ is now more significant. Still, you can buy ticket on the day of. Just do it very sparingly.

The snow farming under the lift crossover wasn't as solid as I had hoped. Already today some dirt patches breaking through. This will be their Achilles this season as there is no 10'+ spine skier's left to work from. The top lip will not be an issue this year on the flip side.

A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
Shocked y'all are really going to make it to June! The spine on SS was NOT big at all. Really cold. Saw there was a deep freeze a week or so ago with temperatures in the low 20s! Looks like it could even snow tonight with temps just below freezing.

Yeah looks real thin on either side of the break near the bottom. I'm sure they'll bridge it really good but by Sunday it'll be ugly again.

Then again they opened on June 4th last year with like half grass skiing so who knows!

I'm not sure if K gives a shit, but Mont Saint Sauveur announced a bonus day (night skiing) on Tuesday May 30th, presumably to beat out K's closing by a day. Maybe that will push K into opening on June 1st with lots of walking, but who knows...

Has Killington announced that Memorial Day is the last day of their season? I haven't seen anything other than June 4.

No, they haven't officially announced any closing date yet that I've seen. However looking at the webcam the bottom of Superstar is starting to go pretty fast. They moved snow around earlier this week...and yet it is already showing some decent brown spots lower down that are growing quickly.

I haven't heard anything official from Killington at all, all spring, just until the snow melts. And as CD just said 4 days of spreading this weekend looks like the end to me. They are still selling tickets for the following weekend last time I checked, but that really means nothing, they'll just refund if not open. I may go Friday for one final day?

Gonna be pushing 80 on Sunday/Monday, doesn't bode well for June, but I didn't think they would make it past mother's day so what do I know?
