I naturally migrate to where the snow is. If I'm on a trail, I'm on the edge.
+1

Though if its untracked, I am going right down the dead center since I so infrequently get the pleasure. Unless the drifts on the edges carry more snow, then I am back on the edges, which is frequently. But nothing beats big wide turns with fat skis right down the center when the coverage is equal.

downhill edge is where i usually start to sniff out the goods - if the trail follows the fall line i usually find myself along skier's left. that's the norm but always changing it up for gs turns, bumps or tp features

minpod song for clif bars - not sure, but for whatever reason the last 2 mtb rides some buried brain cells from jr high started cranking vh ain't talkin' 'bout love! my love is rotten to the core....
ya know i took it to the edge...stood and looked down...ya know i lost alot of friends there baby..i got no time to mess around...got to, got to bee bye baby!....just like i told you before! before! before!

I don't really think about left or right at all the only time I think about it is when giving directions..

yup.

Aside from that, it depends on the trail...at SR I'll start left on some trails, right on others...will switch part of the way down...and some places I'll take the middle when its good and hit the gas.

The opposite side from the way the trail turns. Generally, if the trail goes left, I'll stick to the right, and the opposite as well. Never really gave it much thought, but I think it has most to do with hitting transitions 'the wide way'.

I tend to favor the left when I'm drilling on the groomers. In the bumps, I size up the whole run first, then pick my line.

If conditions of the sides are equal, I like to ski the right. I can make harder right turns, and hang the tails of my skis off over the drop in a turn, or a slash turn and spray trees.

Stay out of the middle

Like Rudy says "You guys, stay out of the middle"...

Must have something to do with the bump skiers. I like the left side mostly.

I ride "regular" foot...

I usually like my back to the wall when I'm cruising fast.... So I tend to ride the left side of the trail... Most likely for vision... Going faster - need to see further and more... higher speeds aren't as conducive to looking back up the trail.. But given a huge wide open trail... It's all about the snow...

In steeper - more technical terrain - i think i tend to do the opposite... facing the wall... So I can see whats against the wall to either ride it or avoid it... Not as worried about the larger space only really concerned with whats immediately around me.. I'm more comfortable doing 1/4 pipe style and surf style turns on the right...

Left side.

Interesting question. I never really thought about it until a couple seasons ago when my girlfriend asked me why I always stick to the left side of a new trail. I had to admit to her, I didn't do it on purpose and never really noticed.

The exception is on a bump run, where I go to what looks like the best line, regardless of trail side. And obvi, all other considerations mentioned above are taken too, i.e. coverage, crowded-ness, wind, fall line, trail direction, etc...

It all depends. sometimes on the right, sometimes the left sometimes the middle. The trail or snow conditions can dictate. Or I could slap on the GS skis and rip high speed turns from side to side and scare all the pants off of all the Joeys.

I guess I tend to ski the left side, but it really depends on the trail contours and conditions.
