Been there not easy to find once you are down in the streambed/ gully. Well maybe it was just me and the guys I was with. :) I was there to climb it not ski it.

If you take Lincoln's Throat proper, the upper portion has a technical rock/ice climb, as evidenced by the technical gear debris in the box area.

It looks like there's an ice bulge that is a demarcation point for skiing. I would do this late season. I don't have an AT setup so I'd likely snow shoe up into the gully and then switch to ski boots when pitch of gully increased and then ski down.

Howdy,

I discovered this post while looking through my site analytics. I'll try to answer some of these questions:

From what i recall the skin from the Lafayette Place parking area to the base of the slides took about 2 hours. About half of the way in is along the Greenleaf trail (leads to Greenleaf Hut). At that point you abandon the trail and bushwhack briefly until you emerge onto the river/drainage/whatever. From the bottom of the slide it takes maybe another half our or so to get up to the top. It's not as well traveled as say the headwall at Tucks, so expect this part to be slow going in soft snow.

The very top (where the ice bulge is) is around 40 degrees, but almost immediately tapers to more like 35. Once you get past the bottom of the slides (where they all converge into one drainage) it tapers to like 20 or so.

The run itself is about 1000' of vert, so it can be done very quickly. We took our time to take photos and stuff. You can certainly do more than one run per day, but for various reasons, we wimped out and only took one. A variation on this route that was also fun is here.

There are more TRs regarding these routes if you dig around google.

O yea... you're right. I guess it turns into Greenleaf later on... Anyhow it was great! We're hoping to ski some of the lines on the east side of the ridge this winter. Hopefully more TRs to follow.

Was up in Pemi Wilderness this past weekend and was looking at the slide that comes off of east side (just south of Lafayette's summit) - maybe what Sweeney was talking about. I was hiking the falling waters-bridal path loop a few Memorial Days ago and noticed this slide was still full of snow ... anyone have any experience or link to report. I kind of think it's 600-700' of vertical
