Like NIKE say's JUST DO IT my son and I trek all over our area looking for after school/work stashes, we can stomp. There is a defunct ski hill not far away and we kill it every time we can.Bonus is, it's a upside down mnt. so you drive to the top and start with a run down. I't makes you appreciate lift service, when you hike up a trail that has a dead lift sitting right there.

Me too. I guess we have lower standards than some of the ski snobs in these parts. ;-)
What you have to understand is that Brian has been talking forever about buying property someday that he can ski on. He's had the sickness so badly that on a scenic drive one day, he was actually scoping out which properties had enough room for some (short) trails.

I think it's a great opportunity for some practice without having to pack up the car. Especially given the distance you have to drive to Sundown or Mohawk. Personally, I haven't really skied in 3 years and the thought of skiing in trees terrifies me. But I'm sure Brian would enjoy it. :)

I do the same thing and wifey just laughs at me. I see some cool stuff on my commute from Southbury to Norwalk. There are a couple of cool little spots in down town Monroe that would lead a skier out onto Main St.

Don't fear the trees. Last season I thought I would try some bumps at the end of the season. Well, I tried those bumps in January and sampled the trees in March. Both are very addictive. Wifey claims she will never ski the trees. I think Brian and I need to take you ladies to Berkshire East to sample Blizzard Island...

I don't have any standards. ;)

Remember who you're talking to, Chris. Some guys ski "thin cover". Brian skis "no cover":

No wonder why he's always coming home with broken skis!

I would love to... Though I'm sure to disappoint since I've only ever skied one season, really. You can't count the 2 times I've barely skied since then, and that was over 3 years ago. :( I really need to get back in shape so I can make the most of the few opportunities I'll have....

This will be my fourth season. Wifey is going on her 3rd. For both of us, one of those seasons was 2 days, if you can call it a season. She took last season off. The 20 days I put in last year has created a big gap between our abilities. As Wa-Loaf said in another thread, we should all get together for a couples day/night. The ladies can hit the groomers and the guys can bash some bumps.

She missed last season for the same reason I did. :D

Seriously though, it's hard now for both of us to get out at the same time. It's very likely we'll only make the Sugarbush trip together. Would be cool to be able to make some turns in my own yard someday, though. :D I think you should go for it!
